Navigating Treatment Refusal: Behaviour Guidance for Down Syndrome Oral Health Management.

Background: Managing dental care in children with special health care needs poses distinct challenges. This case report explores these challenges within the context of a 9-year-old boy with Down syndrome (DS) facing dental treatment refusal. Over ten months and 13 visits, a tailored approach was devised for the patient who presented with multiple cavities and retained primary teeth.

Background: Failure to catch up with growth in toddlerhood will stunt elementary school children, which continues to cognitive decline and oral motor coordination. Verbal motor skills play an essential role in the oral function of the stomatognathic system, which includes mastication, swallowing, and speech. Therefore, early attention to oral function disorders of the stomatognathic system can avoid complications in children's nutritional status and quality of life.
