Germany has been an officially bovine tuberculosis (bTB)-free (OTF) country since 1996. Gradually rising numbers of bTB herd incidents due to Mycobacterium bovis and M. caprae in North-Western and Southern Germany during the last few years prompted the competent authorities to conduct a nationwide bTB survey in 2013/2014.

A case of necrotizing vasculitis involving the central nervous system in a seven month old Bernese mountain dog is reported. The clinical signs include apathy, fever and increased head and cervical pain. The cerebrospinal fluid was unusual viscous and bloody.

In addition to centile curves for birth weight and height of single infants, the authors offer similar biometric references for twins derived from a large French data base. The aim of the work is to assist in discovering small-for-date twins. In the actual prenatal environment, the curves show a decrease in the evolution of these growth parameters in comparison with the single pregnancy standards as early as the 30th week of pregnancy.

A postmortem comparison of atherosclerotic lesions of the aorta was made between 107 cirrhotic and 168 control subjects with mean ages of 61 and 64, respectively. The cause of death in 93 of the control subjects was malignant neoplasms. Individuals with a history of hypercholesterolemia, diabetes, hypertension, ischemic arterial disease, cerebral vascular accidents, or myocardial infarction were eliminated from this study.
