The Effect of Colchicine on Platelet Function Profiles in Patients with Stable Coronary Artery Disease: The ECLIPSE Pilot Study.

Introduction: This prospective, single-arm pharmacodynamic study assessed the effect of colchicine (COLC) [Strides Pharma UK Ltd, Watford, Hertfordshire, England] 0.5 mg administered orally once daily for 14 days on platelet reactivity with respect to aspirin reaction units (ARUs) and P2Y reaction units (PRUs).

Methods: Twenty-two patients with stable coronary artery disease (CAD) on dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) with daily maintenance aspirin and clopidogrel were recruited.

Subclinical hypothyroidism causing hypertension in pregnancy.

This is a case of a 25-year-old primigravida who was referred to the hypertension specialist for elevated blood pressures. The patient had an elevated thyroid-stimulating hormone with normal free thyroxine (T4) levels and was positive for thyroid peroxidase antibodies resulting in a diagnosis of subclinical hypothyroidism. The patient was successfully treated with levothyroxine which normalized the blood pressure without the need for antihypertensive treatment.

Prevalence of self-reported sleep duration and sleep habits in type 2 diabetes patients in South Trinidad.

The present study aims to determine the prevalence of self-reported sleep duration and sleep habits and their associated factors in patients with type 2 diabetes in Trinidad. This was a cross-sectional multicenter study. There were 291 patients with type 2 diabetes studied.
