Background And Aim: In contrast to standard methods (sonography, X‑ray, CT (computed tomography), MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), numerous diseases of the foot or ankle can be diagnosed using SPECT/CT (single photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography) with regard to their clinical relevance with high accuracy (up to > 90%). The aim of this review is to provide an up-to-date overview of the importance of SPECT/CT in selected diseases of the foot and ankle.
Material And Methods: A literature search was carried out in the Pubmed database using the following terms: SPECT/CT, SPECT, skeletal scintigraphy, CT, computed tomography, foot and ankle disease, OSG, tarsal root, foot pain.
Introduction: The success of intensification and personalisation of the curative treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is strongly associated with the precision in radiotherapy. Here, we evaluate the impact of radiotherapy protocol adherence in a prospective multicentre trial.
Methods: In the open-label, randomised, controlled PET-Plan trial, patients with inoperable NSCLC were randomized at a 1:1 ratio regarding the target volume delineation informed by F-FDG PET and CT plus elective nodal irradiation (arm A) or target volumes informed by PET alone (arm B) and received iso-toxically dose-escalated concurrent chemoradiation.

Our exploratory analysis aimed to identify multiparametric MRI (mpMRI) parameters linked to hypoxia that might be used as surrogate for [F]FMISO-PET in diagnosis and chemoradiation treatment (CRT) of HNSCC.
Materials And Methods: 21 patients undergoing definitive CRT for HNSCC were prospectively imaged with serial [F]FMISO-PET and 3 Tesla mpMRI for T1- and T2-weighted and dynamic contrast-enhanced perfusion and diffusion-weighted measurements (k, v, k, ADC) in weeks 0, 2 and 5 and FDG-PET in week 0.
Background: With increasingly precise radiotherapy and advanced medical imaging, the concept of radiotherapy target volume planning might be redefined with the aim of improving outcomes. Whether adjuvant radiotherapy (ART) in affected regions improves the outcome by elimination of residual tumour burden remains unclear.
Methods: A total of 93 patients with exclusively nodal PCa relapse underwent choline-positron-emission tomography-computed-tomography-directed pelvic/retroperitoneal salvage-LND; 46 patients had surgery only and 47 patients received ART in regions with proven lymph node metastases.
Background: In a previous study we demonstrated that, based on 11C/18 F-choline positron emission tomography-computerized-tomography as a diagnostic tool, salvage lymph node dissection (LND) plus adjuvant radiotherapy (ART) is feasible for treatment of pelvic/retroperitoneal nodal recurrence of prostate cancer (PCa). However, the toxicity of this combined treatment strategy has not been systematically investigated before. Purpose: (18)F-Fluoroethylcholine ((18)F-FECh) is excreted via the urinary system with high activity accumulation in the urinary bladder. Furosemide and oral hydration can be administered concomitantly to reduce urinary activity to provide better detectability of retroperitoneal and pelvic lesions. Currently it is unknown if there is any effect of furosemide on (18)F-FECh uptake in organs, tissues and tumour lesions and the extent to which image quality along the urinary tract may be improved by furosemide.

Materials And Methods: A total of 72 patients with nodal prostate cancer relapse after primary therapy underwent pelvic and/or retroperitoneal salvage lymph node dissection. Purpose: It was the aim of this study to investigate the complementary diagnostic performance of a combined pelvic and thoracoabdominal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examination and positron emission tomography (PET) enhanced by image fusion in patients with suspected rectal cancer recurrence.
Patients And Methods: Thirty-one patients with clinically suspected recurrence from rectal cancer were retrospectively included, who had received MRI (high resolution pelvic MRI combined with thoracoabdominal MRI performed during continuous table translation) and (18)F-FDG-PET within 30 days. MRI alone, PET alone, and MRI and PET combined including fusion images were analysed by two observers in consensus.
