Retrospective analysis of atlantoaxial rotatory fixation describing age distribution and gender ratio in children and adolescents: A preliminary report.

Introduction: Atlantoaxial rotatory fixation (AARF) in children presents with an acute onset of neck pain. Almost all cases heal within a few days of onset and are treated conservatively. Because few cases of AARF have been reported, the age distribution or gender ratio of AARF in the child population have not been described enough.
