Objective: In Japan, the current coverage rate of human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination is only 30%, and the rate of biennial cervical screening is 40%. The Japanese Government has attempted to increase the coverage of HPV vaccination and cervical screening. We analyzed the cost-effectiveness of the 9-valent HPV vaccine and cervical screening in Japan.

National trends in treatments for ectopic pregnancy in Japan from 2010 to 2020: a retrospective observational study.

Background: Ectopic pregnancy (EP) can be treated surgically or nonsurgically. In many countries, methotrexate is frequently used as a first-line medical treatment, and its effect is similar to that of surgery in selected patients. We aimed to investigate national trends in the treatment of EP in Japan.

Impact of government-issued financial incentive to medical facilities on management of secondary dysmenorrhea.

Aim: In April 2020, the Japanese government introduced a Specific Medical Fee for managing secondary dysmenorrhea (SD). This initiative provided financial incentives to medical facilities that provide appropriate management of SD with hormonal therapies. We aimed to assess how this policy affects the management processes and outcomes of patients with SD.

Calibration of the molecular rate is one of the major challenges in marine population genetics. Although the use of an appropriate evolutionary rate is crucial in exploring population histories, calibration of the rate is always difficult because fossil records and geological events are rarely applicable for rate calibration. The acceleration of the evolutionary rate for recent coalescent events (or more simply, the time dependency of the molecular clock) is also a problem that can lead to overestimation of population parameters.
