This study investigated the mechanism underlying the flavor improvement observed during fermentation of a pea protein-based beverage using NCC533. The present outbreak of Human Monkeypox (HMPX) that has begun in May 2022 and has spread across all continents in less than two months has qualitative and quantitative characteristics that make it different from the pattern of human disease previously caused by this virus. It has spread with enormous ease, affects almost exclusively adults, behaves as a sexually transmitted disease and focuses on very specific groups and transmission conditions. The elephant's trunk is multifunctional: It must be flexible to wrap around vegetation, but tough to knock down trees and resist attack. How can one appendage satisfy both constraints? In this combined experimental and theoretical study, we challenged African elephants to reach far-away objects with only horizontal extensions of their trunk. Surprisingly, the trunk does not extend uniformly, but instead exhibits a dorsal "joint" that stretches 15% more than the corresponding ventral section.

Mucormycosis is a disease caused by opportunistic fungi of the order Mucorales that generally affects immunocompromised patients or those with underlying disease. It has a high mortality rate and is the third most common invasive fungal infection. The following is a case report of a 12-year-old pediatric patient diagnosed with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia, who presented an aggressive infectious disease two months after beginning chemotherapy, which began in the right frontal and maxillary sinuses, with subsequent progression and extension, progressively deteriorating the patient's clinical status.
