The COVID-19 pandemic has negatively affected individuals with chronic conditions, such as type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The full extent of the impact however remains unknown, mainly due to the limited research availability. This study examines the pandemic's impact on T2DM diagnosis and management in the United States.

Currently, poor patient experience coupled with too many instances of missed care, repeated treatments/tests and poor quality all detract significantly from high value care delivery and are plaguing the healthcare systems globally and especially in the US. A care co-ordination solution enabled by technology is proffered as an appropriate remedy in this research in progress.

Eventhough the US expenditure on health care is almost twice of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) average, the care quality indicators in the US unfortunately are not reflective of such extra spending (Baird, 2016). To revise this cost and quality imbalance, new models have been recommended (and partially implemented) that will tie health care reimbursement with efficient utcomes. This study offers a technology enabled solution to calcualting approraite bundles.
