Prognostic Significance of Combining Cytokeratin-19, E-Cadherin and Ki-67 Analysis in Triple-Negative Breast Cancer with Basal-Like and Non-Basal-Like Phenotype.

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is known to have the worst outcome compared to the other forms of breast cancer. Moreover, molecular markers identified basal-like breast cancer (BLBC) phenotypes to be also related to a worse prognosis. In this study, we evaluated by immunohistochemistry (IHC) the prognostic significance of combining Cytokeratin-19 (CK19), E-cadherin, and Ki-67 tissue expression in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) cases presenting a basal-like (BLBC) or a non-basal-like (n-BLBC) phenotype to improve the selection and the monitoring of BC patients with a more aggressive outcome.

Sudden death due to cirrhotic cardiomyopathy: An autopsy case report.

Cirrhosis cardiomyopathy is defined by cardiac dysfunction in cirrhotic patients. It is characterized by the reduced contractile response to stress and/or impaired diastolic relaxation associated with electrophysiological disturbances with unknown cardiac disease. Here we report a case of sudden death in a 44-year-old woman, with no personal and family medical history and in apparently good health before death.

Human papillomavirus-related multiphenotypic sinonasal carcinoma: a clinico-pathological dilemma case report.

Human papillomavirus (HPV)-related multiphenotypic sinonasal carcinoma (HMSC), is a new entity that is restricted to the sinonasal tract and is associated with high-risk HPV. This tumor is suggested to have an indolent behavior with a better prognosis than other carcinomas. We report a unique case of HMSC with a locally aggressive behavior.

Case Presentation: This report documents a case of bifocal and aggressive HS in small bowel and lung revealed by acute peritonitis in a 63-year-old man.

Cystic form of Actinomycotic mycetoma: A new case with a diagnostic challenge.

Mycetoma, commonly known as Madura foot, is a chronic granulomatous infection caused either by fungi (eumycetoma) known as actinomycete. This disease occurs preferentially in young adults, and it affects the foot in particular. We report a Tunisian case of mycetoma occurring in an old patient, particular by its cystic presentation.

Fetus in Fetu (FIF) is an extremely rare congenital anomaly defined as a mass containing a vertebral axis often associated with other organs or limbs around this axis. We report the case of a female fetus aged 4 months presenting with retroperitoneal mass measuring 7x6x4cm, suggesting teratoma on computerized tomography (CT) scan. The mass was resected.

Metanephric stromal tumor: An unusual presentation of a rare paediatric renal neoplasm.

A 2-year-old boy with prenatal diagnosis of a malformation uropathy was referred to paediatric surgery department. On systemic examination, there were no palpable masses. An ultrasonography of abdomen with color Doppler, a renal artery angiographic and scintigraphy revealed a preostial aneurysm at the left renal artery.

Background: Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) are mesenchymal tumors occuring in the majority of cases in the stomach and small intestine, rarely in rectum, colon, esophagus or mesentery. They are derived from cells of cajal or their precursor, and are typically CD117/KIT + (95%), CD34 + (70%).

Cytomegalovirus ischemic colitis and transverse myelitis in a renal transplant recipient.

We report a rare case of cytomegalovirus (CMV)-associated ischemic colitis and transverse myelitis (TM) occurring precociously after renal transplantation. A 57-year-old male was transplanted with a cadaveric kidney on 5 June 2009. The patient was CMV seropositive and the donor was seronegative.

Search for a gene expression signature of breast cancer local recurrence in young women.

Purpose: A gene expression signature, predictive for local recurrence after breast-conserving treatment, has previously been identified from a series of 165 young patients with breast cancer. We evaluated this signature on both another platform and an independent series, compared its performance with other published gene-sets, and investigated the gene expression profile of a larger data set.

Experimental Design: Gene expression tumor profiles were obtained on 148 of the initial 165 Dutch patients and on an independent validation series of 195 French patients.
