Gaining Insight into Operative Performance: Analysis of an Automated 360-Degree Feedback Tool Among Perioperative Staff.

Background: Surgery has seen limited adoption of 360-degree feedback tools, and no current tools evaluate intraoperative performance from a technical, nontechnical, or teaching skill perspective. We sought to evaluate the overall findings and perceived value of a novel 360-degree feedback tool for surgeons from their operating room colleagues.

Methods: The 'intraoperative 360' (i360) combined 3 previously validated scales of surgeon performance.

Precision targeting of β-catenin induces tumor reprogramming and immunity in hepatocellular cancers.

First-line immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) combinations show responses in subsets of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients. Nearly half of HCCs are Wnt-active with mutations in (encoding for β-catenin), , or , and demonstrate limited benefit to ICI due to an immune excluded tumor microenvironment. We show significant tumor responses in multiple β-catenin-mutated immunocompetent HCC models to a novel siRNA encapsulated in lipid nanoparticle targeting (LNP-CTNNB1).

Preprocedural Screening Tool to Guide Nonpulmonary Vein Trigger Testing in First-Time Atrial Fibrillation Ablation.

Background: Patients undergoing first-time atrial fibrillation (AF) ablation can benefit from targeting non-pulmonary vein (PV) triggers. Preprocedural identification of high-risk individuals can guide planning of ablation strategy. This study aimed to create a preprocedural screening tool to identify patients at risk of non-PV triggers during first-time AF ablation.

A documentary analysis of 614 placement agency proposals, 2012-2021, interrogated multiple characteristics: agency type, placement (sub-) category (WIL model), project type, agency-required student capabilities, intended learning outcomes.

We have pioneered an innovative label-free digital detection platform that utilizes Interferometric Reflectance Imaging Sensor (IRIS) technology.

Effects of Constraining Postural Sway During Upper-Limb Precision Aiming Task Practice in Individuals with Stroke.

Individuals post-stroke commonly demonstrate alterations in motor behavior with regard to both task performance and the motor strategies used in pursuit of task goals. We evaluated whether constraining postural sway (motor strategy) during practice would affect upper-limb precision aiming performance (task performance) and postural control adaptations. Adults with stroke stood on a force plate while immersed in a virtual scene displaying an anterior target.

A Comparison of Clinical and Laboratory Features of Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever in Children and Adults: A Retrospective Single-Center Cohort Study and Literature Review.

Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) is a major emerging infectious disease threat, and children are reported to have a milder disease course compared with adults, in contrast to other viral hemorrhagic fevers. The aim of this study was to compare adult and pediatric patients with CCHF to improve understanding of pathogenesis and the natural history of the disease. A retrospective analysis of all children and adults admitted with confirmed CCHF between 2011 and 2020.

Multi-Channel Microscale Nerve Cuffs for Spatially Selective Neuromodulation.

Peripheral nerve modulation via electrical stimulation shows promise for treating several diseases, but current approaches lack selectivity, leading to side effects. Exploring selective neuromodulation with commercially available nerve cuffs is impractical due to their high cost and limited spatial resolution. While custom cuffs reported in the literature achieve high spatial resolutions, they require specialized microfabrication equipment and significant effort to produce even a single design.

Background: Cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) procedures can cause significant postoperative pain. Opioid use for postoperative pain is associated with risk of persistent use. Methods: We included consecutive patients undergoing first-time AF ablation between 2020 and 2022.

Researchers' perceptions of the trustworthiness, for reuse purposes, of government health data in Victoria, Australia: Implications for policy and practice.

In 2022 the Australian Data Availability and Transparency Act (DATA) commenced, enabling accredited "data users" to access data from "accredited data service providers." However, the DATA Scheme lacks guidance on "trustworthiness" of the data to be utilised for reuse purposes. : To determine: (i) Do researchers using government health datasets trust the data? (ii) What factors influence their perceptions of data trustworthiness? and (iii) What are the implications for government and data custodians? Authors of published studies (2008-2020) that utilised Victorian government health datasets were surveyed via a case study approach.

Looking beyond LCI: Multiple breath washout phase III slope derived indices and their application in chronic respiratory disease in children.

The multiple breath washout (MBW) test is widely reported in the context of Lung Clearance Index (LCI). LCI reflects global ventilation inhomogeneity but does not provide information regarding the localization of disease along the respiratory tree. The MBW-derived normalized phase III slope (S) indices (S and S), instead, can distinguish between convective-dependent and diffusion-convection-dependent ventilation inhomogeneity considered to occur within the conductive and acinar airways, respectively.

The Development of a Video-based Nutrition Education Curriculum for Patients Undergoing Radical Cystectomy.

Background: The treatment for patients with muscle-invasive bladder cancer includes neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by radical cystectomy. The American Urological Association guidelines stress the optimization of patient performance status in the perioperative setting. Therefore, implementation of nutrition education is critical for the multi-disciplinary care of this vulnerable patient population and wide distribution of information is critical.

Digital Interventions to Modify Skin Cancer Risk Behaviors in a National Sample of Young Adults: Randomized Controlled Trial.

Background: Young adults engage in behaviors that place them at risk for skin cancer. Dissemination of digital health promotion interventions via social media is a potentially promising strategy to modify skin cancer risk behaviors by increasing UV radiation (UVR) protection and skin cancer examinations.

Objective: This study aimed to compare 3 digital interventions designed to modify UVR exposure, sun protection, and skin cancer detection behaviors among young adults at moderate to high risk of skin cancer.

Nisin Inhibition of Gram-Negative Bacteria.

This study investigates the activity of the broad-spectrum bacteriocin nisin against a large panel of Gram-negative bacterial isolates, including relevant plant, animal, and human pathogens. The aim is to generate supportive evidence towards the use/inclusion of bacteriocin-based therapeutics and open avenues for their continued development. Nisin inhibitory activity was screened against a panel of 575 strains of Gram-negative bacteria, encompassing 17 genera.
