Polysaccharide-linked hydroxycinnamoyl esters (PHEs) over-accumulate in the internodes of a rice (Oryza sativa L.) mutant, Fukei 71 (F71). This accumulation is accompanied by over-expression of phenylalanine ammonialyase (PAL).
