Patients with metastatic melanoma have a historically poor prognosis, but recent advances in treatment options, including targeted therapy and immunotherapy, have drastically improved the outcomes for some of these patients. However, not all patients respond to available treatments, and around 50% of patients with metastatic cutaneous melanoma and almost all patients with metastases of uveal melanoma die of their disease. Thus, there is a need for novel treatment strategies for patients with melanoma that do not benefit from the available therapies.

Objective: Our aim was to identify and characterise COPD patients with increased airway IL-6TS and to elucidate the biological drivers of IL-6TS pathway activation.
Methods: We used an IL-6TS-specific sputum biomarker profile (soluble IL-6 receptor (sIL-6R), IL-6, IL-1β, IL-8, macrophage inflammatory protein-1β) to stratify sputum data from patients with COPD (n=74; Biomarkers to Target Antibiotic and Systemic Corticosteroid Therapy in COPD Exacerbation (BEAT-COPD)) by hierarchical clustering.

During cycles, the treatment resulted in expansion of CD56(bright) (CD3(-)/16(-)/56(bright)) and CD16(+) (CD3(-)/16(+)/56(+)) natural killer (NK) cells in the blood along with increased NK cell expression of the natural cytotoxicity receptors (NCRs) NKp30 and NKp46. Multivariate analyses correcting for age and risk group demonstrated that high CD56(bright) NK cell counts and high expression of NKp30 or NKp46 on CD16(+) NK cells independently predicted leukemia-free survival (LFS) and overall survival (OS).

Patients And Methods: Radiographs (obtained pre and post index procedure, and at 4-year follow-up) and the records of 65 VEPTR patients from four paediatric spine centres were analysed.
Purpose: To investigate morphologic alterations in the limbal palisades of Vogt in a progressive form of limbal stem cell deficiency.
Methods: Twenty Norwegian subjects (40 eyes) with congenital aniridia and 9 healthy family members (18 eyes) without aniridia were examined. Clinical grade of aniridia-related keratopathy (ARK) was assessed by slit-lamp biomicroscopy, and tear production and quality, corneal thickness, and sensitivity were additionally measured.
Background: Early diagnosis of idiopathic scoliosis allows for observation and timely initiation of brace treatment in order to halt progression. School scoliosis screening programs were abolished in Norway in 1994 for lack of evidence that the programs improved outcome and for the costs involved.
