Fluorocyclopropane-Containing Proline Analogue: Synthesis and Conformation of an Item in the Peptide Chemist's Toolbox.

Over the years, numerous modifications to the structure of proline have been made in order to tune its effects on bioactive compounds. Notably, the introduction of a cyclopropane ring or a fluorine atom has produced interesting results. Herein, we describe the synthesis of a proline containing fluorocyclopropane.

Epidemiology of Pars Plana Vitrectomy in the Elderly: A Retrospective 10-Year Survey of 592 Cases.

Purpose: To report the epidemiology of the surgical indications of pars plana vitrectomy in patients aged 75 years or older.

Patients And Methods: The medical records of patients who underwent vitrectomy surgery in a single center between 2008 and 2018 were evaluated retrospectively for demographics, medical background, and surgical indications. Data on patients aged 75-85 were compared to those of patients older than 85 years and those recorded between 2008-2013 and 2014-2018.

Visual acuity in patients with keratoconus: a comparison with matched regular myopic astigmatism.

Purpose: To compare uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA) and best-corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA) between patients with keratoconus (KC) and matched patients with regular myopic astigmatism.

Methods: This retrospective study included consecutive patients diagnosed with KC between 2008 and 2013 at Care-Vision Laser Centers, Tel-Aviv, Israel, and matched patients with regular myopic astigmatism. Data included were central corneal thickness (CCT), spherical equivalent (SE), cylinder (CYL), mean keratometric power, maximum keratometric power (K), UDVA, CDVA, and defocus equivalent (DEQ).

Risk factors for progression of functional tricuspid regurgitation.

The aim of this study was to determine the risk factors for tricuspid regurgitation (TR) progression in a contemporary population of patients referred for echocardiography. In a case-control study, we compared 100 consecutive patients with TR progression on serial echocardiograms (trivial or mild TR on the first echocardiogram and moderate or severe functional TR on a follow-up echocardiogram) with 100 patients matched for age and gender, having mild TR at baseline and no TR progression. Mean age was 72 ± 10 years, 55% were males, and time to TR progression was 5.
