Background Infection with the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) can lead to prolonged symptoms post-recovery, commonly known as long-term coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) or "long COVID." Neuropsychiatric consequences of long COVID include cognitive dysfunction and sleep disturbances, which significantly impair daily living. This study aimed to explore the impact of long COVID on cognitive performance and sleep quality in patients receiving outpatient care.

The involvement of the 18kDa translocator protein (TSPO), a marker of neuroinflammation, in Alzheimer's disease (AD) remains controversial. In the present report, we used [I]-CLINDE, a SPECT TSPO radiotracer never before used in AD, and we investigated the relationship between TSPO and amyloid plaque density (using [I]-DRM106) in a triple transgenic mouse model of AD (3xTgAD, APP, PS1 and Tau). Our results show that TSPO increases appear before those of amyloid deposits.

Deregulated cell division, resulting in aberrant cell proliferation, is one of the key hallmarks of cancer. Cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs) play a central role in cell cycle progression in cancer, and the clinical development of the CDK4/6 inhibitors palbociclib, ribociclib, and abemaciclib has changed clinical practice in the setting of endocrine-receptor positive breast cancer. Results of pivotal phase II and III trials investigating these CDK4/6 inhibitors in patients with endocrine receptor-positive, advanced breast cancer have demonstrated a significant improvement in progression-free survival, with a safe toxicity profile.

Some data suggest that anti-inflammatory macrolides may be effective to treat organizing pneumonia (OP) and prevent relapses, but no formal comparison with prednisone alone is available. To explore this issue, we retrospectively compared the efficacy of a 12-week combined regimen of clarithromycin and prednisone with a 24-week prednisone alone regimen in OP. A standard 12-week regimen of combined clarithromycin and prednisone was designed for the treatment of cryptogenic or radiation-induced OP, aiming at reducing the cumulated prednisone dose and the relapse rate.

We tested whether stereotypical situations would affect low-status group members' performance more strongly than high-status group members'. Experiment 1 and 2 tested this hypothesis using gender as a proxy of chronic social status and a gender-neutral task that has been randomly presented to favor boys (men superiority condition), favor girls (women superiority condition), or show no gender preference (control condition). Both experiments found that women's (Experiment 1) and girls' performance (Experiment 2) suffered more from the evoked stereotypes than did men's and boys' ones.

Sex cord stromal tumors (SCST) are rare cancers of the ovarian area in adults. They constitute a heterogeneous group of tumors that develop from the sex cords and the ovarian stroma. These tumors are detected typically at an early stage, and they may recur as late as 30 years after the initial treatment.

Aim: There are few published studies on the triggers of binge eating in anorexia nervosa of binge/purging subtype (BPAN), bulimia nervosa (BN) and binge eating disorder (BED).

Patients And Methods: We validated in 29 patients (10 BPAN, 10 BN and 9 BED) the perspicuity, the clarity and the intra- (doubles) and inter- (test-retest) reproducibility of a 24-item Start questionnaire on the triggers of binge eating. Then the Start questionnaire was administered to 176 patients (65 BPAN, 62 BN and 59 BED patients) being 27.

Much research studies how individuals cope with disease threat by blaming out-groups and protecting the in-group. The model of collective symbolic coping (CSC) describes four stages by which representations of a threatening event are elaborated in the mass media: awareness, divergence, convergence, and normalization. We used the CSC model to predict when symbolic in-group protection (othering) would occur in the case of the avian influenza (AI) outbreak.

Background: In many binge-eating/vomiting patients, abstinence could not be obtained from classical treatments. Since the authors showed that tube feeding (TF) reduced such episodes in anorexia nervosa (AN)-hospitalized patients, they carried out a randomized trial on the efficacy of TF plus cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) vs CBT alone in AN and bulimia nervosa adult outpatients.

Methods: The authors randomly assigned 103 ambulatory patients to receive 16 sessions of CBT alone (n = 51) or CBT plus 2 months of TF (n = 52).

Though it has been suggested that hedonic processing is altered in anorexia nervosa (AN), few studies have used objective measures to assess affective processes in this eating disorder. Accordingly, we investigated facial electromyographic, autonomic and subjective reactivity to the smell and sight of food and non-food stimuli, and assessed more particularly rapid facial reactions reflecting automatic processing of pleasantness. AN and healthy control (HC) women were exposed, before and after a standardized lunch, to pictures and odorants of foods differing in energy density, as well as to non-food sensory cues.

Background & Aims: Body weight gain is an important goal in anorexia nervosa (AN) patients, but inflation in body fluids could artificially increase body weight during refeeding.

Methods: 42 malnourished adult AN patients were refed using a normal-sodium diet, then 176 other malnourished adult AN patients received a refeeding low-sodium diet (BMI of the 218 patients: 13.4 ± 1.

Although patients with anorexia nervosa have been suggested to be anhedonic, few experiments have directly measured their sensory pleasure for a range of food and non-food stimuli. This study aimed to examine whether restrictive anorexia nervosa (AN-R) patients displayed: i) a generalized decline in sensory pleasure or only in food-related sensory pleasure; ii) a modification of hedonic responses to food cues (liking) and of the desire to eat foods (wanting) as a function of their motivational state (hunger vs. satiety) and energy density of foods (high vs.

Background: To investigate hedonic reactivity and the influence of unconscious emotional processes on the low sensitivity to positive reinforcement of food in anorexia nervosa (AN).

Method: AN and healthy women were exposed to palatable food pictures just after a subliminal exposure to facial expressions (happy, disgust, fear and neutral faces), either while fasting or after a standardized meal (hunger versus satiety). Both implicit [facial electromyographic (EMG) activity from zygomatic and corrugator muscles, skin conductance, heart rate, and videotaped facial behavior] and explicit (self-reported pleasure and desire) measures of affective processes were recorded.

Twenty-one subjects were studied to evaluate the effect of renewal of sensory stimulations of previously eaten foods on sensory-specific satiety and intake. The subjects ate French fries then brownie cakes ad libitum in three situations: "monotonous" - fries then brownies were consumed alone; "simultaneous" - condiments (ketchup and mayonnaise for the fries, vanilla cream and whipped cream for the brownies) were added during intakes; "successive" - after intake of fries alone, ketchup then mayonnaise were available with fries and, after intake of brownies alone, vanilla cream then whipped cream were offered with brownies. The quantities eaten in the "simultaneous" and "successive" situations were higher (p<0.

Alcohol has an energy content of 7 kcal/g of pure alcohol. However, there was no clear statistical correlation between alcohol consumption and body mass index in transversal as well as in longitudinal studies. This is related to the fact that alcohol stimulates NADPH oxidation, from NADH.
