Objective: People's expectations about the timing of developmental events, specifically the ages at which they will occur, are influenced by social and cultural contexts. When expected timing and lived experience are divergent, events such as menopause may be associated with greater stress or distress. We hypothesized that being "off-time," that is, experiencing perimenopause-related menstrual cycle changes or symptoms in a timeframe before a person expects them, would lead to worse ratings on measures of stress, satisfaction, and health.

Methods: We used data from two prospective cohort studies: PHOSP-COVID (patients hospitalised between March 2020 and April 2021 with COVID-19) and COVIDENCE UK (community cohort studied over the same time period).
Unlabelled: Pathogenic protein-truncating variants of RAD51C, which plays an integral role in promoting DNA damage repair, increase the risk of breast and ovarian cancer. A large number of RAD51C missense variants of uncertain significance (VUS) have been identified, but the effects of the majority of these variants on RAD51C function and cancer predisposition have not been established. Here, analysis of 173 missense variants by a homology-directed repair (HDR) assay in reconstituted RAD51C-/- cells identified 30 nonfunctional (deleterious) variants, including 18 in a hotspot within the ATP-binding region.

Here, we describe silver-organic micro-complexes of random shapes that exhibit macroscopic unidirectional rotation on water surface through the asymmetric release of cinchonine or cinchonidine chiral molecules from their crystallites asymmetrically adsorbed on the complex surfaces. Computational modeling indicates that the motor rotation is driven by a pH-controlled asymmetric jet-like Coulombic ejection of chiral molecules upon their protonation in water.

The primary aim of this study was to examine the relationship between perioperative intravenous (IV) dexamethasone and length of stay (LOS) in patients undergoing primary, elective TJA.
Methods: All patients who underwent TJA from 2015 to 2020 and received perioperative IV dexamethasone were queried from the Premier Healthcare Database.
The playground swing is a dynamic, coupled oscillator system consisting of the swing as an object and a human as the swinger. Here, we propose a model for capturing the effect of the initial phase of natural upper body motion on the continuous pumping of a swing and validate this model from the motion data of ten participants pumping swings of three different swing chain lengths. Our model predicts that the swing pumps the most if the phase of maximum lean back, which we call the initial phase, occurs when the swing is at a vertical (midpoint) position and moving forward when the amplitude is small.

We obtained personal space estimations using a virtual disc around the participant which could be extended and retracted, inside the simulation, to indicate perceived amount of personal space, and compared this measure to questionnaire-based estimations.

Wind speeds measured by the Mars 2020 Perseverance rover in Jezero crater were fitted as a Weibull distribution. InSight wind data acquired in Elysium Planitia were also used to contextualize observations. Jezero winds were found to be much calmer on average than in previous landing sites, despite the intense aeolian activity observed.

Such propagating events can be described through the avalanches framework, which can relate spatiotemporal activity at the microscale with global network properties. Interestingly, propagating avalanches in healthy networks are indicative of critical dynamics, where the network is organized to a phase transition, which optimizes certain computational properties.
