Targeting high-speed, low-cost, short-reach intra-datacenter connections, we designed and tested an integrated silicon photonic circuit as a transmitter engine. This engine can be packaged into an optical transceiver module which meets the QSFP-DD Form Factor, together with other electrical/optical components. We first present the design and performance of a high-speed silicon modulator, which had a 3-dB EO bandwidth of >40 GHz and an ER of >5 dB.

Purpose: Treatment response to drug-eluting bead chemoembolization (DEB-TACE) is well established for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC); however, few studies have evaluated tumor imaging characteristics associated with treatment responses. The aim of our study was to identify imaging characteristics associated with treatment responses and overall survival after DEB-TACE of HCC.

Methods: This is a retrospective cohort study of 33 tumors in 32 patients who underwent DEB-TACE for inoperable HCC in a single, large academic medical center.

We propose a most economical design of the Optical Shared MemOry Supercomputer Interconnect System (OSMOSIS) all-optical, wavelength-space crossbar switch fabric. It is shown, by analysis and simulation, that the total number of on-off gates required for the proposed N × N switch fabric can scale asymptotically as N ln N if the number of input/output ports N can be factored into a product of small primes. This is of the same order of magnitude as Shannon's lower bound for switch complexity, according to which the minimum number of two-state switches required for the construction of a N × N permutation switch is log2 (N!).

We describe a novel process of laser-assisted fabrication of surface structures on doped oxide glasses with heights reaching 10 - 13% of the glass thickness. This effect manifests itself as a swelling of the irradiated portion of the glass, which occurs in a wide range of glass compositions. The extent of such swelling depends on the glass base composition.
