Pedicle screw fixation is a spinal fusion technique that involves the implantation of screws into vertebral pedicles to restrict movement between those vertebrae. The objective of this research is to measure pedicle screw placement accuracy using a novel automated measurement system that directly compares the implanted screw location to the planned target in all three anatomical views. Preoperative CT scans were used to plan the screw trajectories in 122 patients across four surgical centers.

Occasionally, rare disc herniations can mimic other pathologies such as nerve tumor. We present such case and a review of similar cases in the scientific literature.

The high accuracy of robot-assisted placement of thoracolumbar pedicle screws is documented in the literature. The authors present the largest case series to date evaluating 90-day complication, revision, and readmission rates for robot-assisted spine surgery using the current generation of robotic guidance systems.

While the current primary goal of these systems is to improve the safety of spine surgery by increasing screw accuracy, there are a number of technical errors that may increase the risk of screw malposition. Given the learning curve associated with this technology, it is important for the surgeon to have a thorough understanding of all required steps.

The association of SPS with hyperthyroidism is extremely rare. We describe a patient with uncontrolled Graves' disease and undiagnosed SPS, who presented initially with acute ataxia simulating a cerebrovascular accident.

Objectives: To evaluate the labeling accuracy and product uniformity of available soy isoflavone products in the eastern Washington State region for 13 products and to perform a cost comparison based on the isoflavone content in milligrams for 11 products.
Design: Thirteen (13) isoflavone products (7 tablet and 6 capsule formulations) were randomly obtained from health food, grocery, and pharmacy outlets in eastern Washington State. Four different samples of the same product were extracted using 75% ethanol.
We introduced an email teleneurology service for patients referred to a neurologist by general practitioners. Over 14 months, 76 referrals (of 75 patients) were received. To determine the sustainability of the service, we studied a second cohort of 76 consecutive patients referred after our first study.

Outcome measures were the numbers of investigations and of patient reviews. The telemedicine group did not differ significantly from the 150 patients seen face to face by neurologists in hospital clinics in terms of either the number of investigations or the number of reviews they received.
