The Use and Effectiveness of an Online Diagnostic Support System for Blood Film Interpretation: Comparative Observational Study.

Background: The recognition and interpretation of abnormal blood cell morphology is often the first step in diagnosing underlying serious systemic illness or leukemia. Supporting the staff who interpret blood film morphology is therefore essential for a safe laboratory service. This paper describes an open-access, web-based decision support tool, developed by the authors to support morphological diagnosis, arising from earlier studies identifying mechanisms of error in blood film reporting.

E-Cadherin Expression in Blastic Plasmacytoid Dendritic Cell Neoplasms: An Unrecognized Finding and Potential Diagnostic Pitfall.

E-cadherin is expressed in hematopoietic erythroid precursors, but to our knowledge, its expression in blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm (BPDCN) has not been described. We report a case of BPDCN showing strong expression of E-cadherin, arising in a patient with history of primary myelofibrosis. Four more cases of BPDCN tested all showed strong expression of E-cadherin.

Efficacy of venetoclax monotherapy in patients with relapsed chronic lymphocytic leukaemia in the post-BCR inhibitor setting: a UK wide analysis.

Venetoclax is a BCL2 inhibitor with activity in relapsed/refractory (R/R) chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL). We conducted a multi-centre retrospective analysis of 105 R/R CLL patients who received venetoclax pre-National Health Service commissioning. The median age was 67 years and median prior lines was 3 (range: 1-15).

Evaluation of enteropathy-associated T-cell lymphoma comparing standard therapies with a novel regimen including autologous stem cell transplantation.

Enteropathy associated T-cell lymphoma (EATL) is a rare type of peripheral T-cell lymphoma. At present, there are no standardized diagnostic or treatment protocols for EATL. We describe EATL in a population-based setting and evaluate a new treatment with aggressive chemotherapy and autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT).
