Nurses comprise the largest group of health professionals yet are underrepresented in health news media, depriving the public of important perspectives on health and healthcare and undermining the public's perceptions of nurses as experts. The George Washington University School of Nursing's Center for Health Policy and Media Engagement partnered with the American Organization for Nursing Leadership to invite a small group of chief nursing officers to participate in a workshop aimed at building an organization-specific strategy for sharing nurses' expertise with the public through media engagement. Participants completed a preworkshop survey, participated in two 4-hour workshops to explore the factors that contribute to nurses' invisibility as media sources, and developed a strategic plan for ensuring that their healthcare organizations are able to recognize and share their nurses' expertise with media.

The structure-properties relationships of sustainable materials derived from biomass-based monomers are investigated, focusing on hybrid styrene/terpene-based copolymers with blocky microstructures, such as β-myrcene- and β-ocimene-styrene copolymers. The samples show complex glass transition dynamics, as evidenced by the physical aging experienced by the amorphous phase in styrene-rich copolymers. The tendency of styrene- and terpene-rich sequences to give heterogeneous morphologies with correlation strength extending over 10-40 nm is outlined, through small-angle X-ray scattering analysis.

Background: Myasthenia gravis (MG) with MuSK antibodies (MuSK-MG) represents a distinct subtype with different responses to treatments compared to patients with AChR antibodies, especially in terms of tolerance to acetylcholinesterase inhibitors (AChEI). Introduction: Muscle-specific kinase (MuSK)- myasthenia gravis (MG) is caused by pathogenic autoantibodies against MuSK that correlate with disease severity and are predominantly of the IgG4 subclass. The first-line treatment for MuSK-MG is general immunosuppression with corticosteroids, but the effect of treatment on IgG4 and MuSK IgG4 levels has not been studied.

We recently developed compound FC-7269 for targeting the Molluscum contagiosum virus processivity factor (mD4) and demonstrated its ability to inhibit viral processive DNA synthesis in vitro and cellular infection of an mD4-dependent virus (Antiviral Res 211, 2023,105520). However, despite a thorough medicinal chemistry campaign we were unable to generate a potent second analog as a requisite for drug development. We overcame this impasse, by conjugating a short hydrophobic trivaline peptide to FC-7269 to produce FC-TriVal-7269 which significantly increased antiviral potency and reduced cellular toxicity.
