Populational aging increases the incidence of musculoskeletal degenerative processes, such as adult scoliosis (AS). Adult scoliosis is defined as a spinal deformity in the coronal plane with a Cobb angle > 10°. Adult scoliosis may be iatrogenic or result from a degenerative process (scoliosis ) or a pre-existing scoliosis.

Method: Patients with scoliosis (Cobb angle above 10°), of both genders, diagnosed after 10 years of age were included, excluding those who presented other condition that could lead to scoliosis. Methods: In this double-blind study, 30 Wistar rats were operated randomly divided into three groups matched according to the suture used (Nylon 10-0, 75micron, brands Microsuture((r)), Polysuture((r)) and Ethicon((r))).
