- The study aimed to assess the impact of administering low doses of slow-release recombinant bovine somatotropin (bST) on hormone levels, embryo development, and fertility in dairy cows after they gave birth.
- Cows were divided into three groups: a control group with a placebo, one group receiving a single bST injection, and another receiving two injections of bST, with various hormone levels and pregnancy outcomes monitored throughout the study.
- Results showed that cows receiving two doses of bST had better hormonal responses, larger embryo sizes, and improved fertility compared to those receiving just one dose or a placebo, confirming the benefits of bST in enhancing reproductive success in dairy cows.
The present study evaluated superovulatory responses and in vivo embryo production in cows treated with FSH starting 1 or 2 days after ovum pick-up (OPU). Thirty-three non-lactating Nelore cows were subjected to aspiration of all follicles ≥3mm for OPU. After OPU, cows were randomly divided into two groups in which the follicle superstimulatory treatments with FSH started 1 or 2 days after OPU (Groups D1 and D2, respectively).
