This article reports an improvement in the performance of the hafnium oxide-based (HfO) ferroelectric field-effect transistors (FeFET) achieved by a synergistic approach of interfacial layer () engineering and -voltage optimization. FeFET devices with silicon dioxide (SiO) and silicon oxynitride (SiON) as were fabricated and characterized. Although the FeFETs with SiO interfaces demonstrated better low-frequency characteristics compared to the FeFETs with SiON interfaces, the latter demonstrated better endurance and retention.

Hafnium oxide- and GeSbTe-based functional layers are promising candidates in material systems for emerging memory technologies. They are also discussed as contenders for radiation-harsh environment applications. Testing the resilience against ion radiation is of high importance to identify materials that are feasible for future applications of emerging memory technologies like oxide-based, ferroelectric, and phase-change random-access memory.

Ferroelectricity in crystalline hafnium oxide thin films is strongly investigated for the application in non-volatile memories, sensors and other applications. Especially for back-end-of-line (BEoL) integration the decrease of crystallization temperature is of major importance. However, an alternative method for inducing ferroelectricity in amorphous or semi-crystalline hafnium zirconium oxide films is presented here, using the newly discovered effect of electric field-induced crystallization in hafnium oxide films.

Sport-related peripheral nerve injuries (SRNIs) can occur in virtually any sport whether or not enjoyed by an amateur or in the career of a professional athlete. The diagnosis of SRNIs can be difficult, especially when trying to differentiate nerve injury from musculoskeletal pain. Irradiation of blood components with ionizing radiation generated by a specific device is recommended to prevent transfusion-associated graft-versus-host disease. However, a linear accelerator can also be used in the absence of such a device, which is the case of the blood bank facility studied herein. In order to evaluate the quality of the irradiated packed red blood cells, this study aimed to determine whether the procedure currently employed in the facility is effective in inhibiting the proliferation of T lymphocytes without damaging blood components.

Adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma is a lymphoproliferative disorder of mature T lymphocytes associated with infection with human T-cell lymphotrophic virus type I (HTLV-I). Adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma is characterized by clinical and laboratory polymorphism that allows it to be classified into four distinct subgroups: smoldering, chronic, acute and lymphomatous types. We present here two cases of adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma, respectively in the acute and lymphomatous forms of the disease.
