The use of non-sugar sweeteners (NSS) has gained prominence as an alternative to reduce free sugar consumption, aligning with global efforts to combat the growing prevalence of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). By providing sweetness without caloric energy, NSS are viewed as potential tools in addressing diet-related health challenges. However, their long-term effects on health remain contentious, especially within the medical community.

Introduction: Sarcopenia is a clinical syndrome characterized by the loss of muscle mass quantity and quality. Our objective was to establish the prevalence of low muscle reserve, risk of sarcopenia (RIS) and probable sarcopenia (PS) and their associations with survival at two years in hospitalized patients with cancer.

Methods: This was a post hoc analysis of the Nutri-Score and Malnutrition Screening Tool (MST) operational characteristics.

Background And Objectives: Surgical resection is a first-line treatment for patients with cancer, but preoperative malnutrition is a risk factor for postoperative complications. This study aimed to evaluate the association between preoperative administration of an immunonutrition regimen and postoperative clinical outcomes in patients with cancer undergoing major abdominal surgery.

Methods: The Surgical Prehabilitation Multimodal Oncology (SUPREMO) retrospective cohort study, conducted from January 2021 to December 2023, included patients with cancer undergoing major abdominal surgery.

Description of the etiological factors behind acute moderate and severe malnutrition in children under 5 years hospitalized at two high-complexity referral centers: Case series.

Background: Acute malnutrition in children <5 years of age has a direct relationship with medical complications and mortality. We aimed to describe the etiologic factors in children with moderate and severe non-illness-related acute malnutrition who required hospitalization for treatment of malnutrition in two high-complexity hospital centers in Bogotá, Colombia.

Methods: This is a multicenter case series (December 2016 to December 2020) including patients aged 1-59 months with a weight/height indicator less than -2 SD.

[Strategie of the "acute respiratory disease room" in two tertiary referral clinics: a retrospective multicenter cohort study].

Unlabelled: Respiratory diseases are one of the main causes of morbidity and mortality in children under 5 years of age. The acute respiratory disease (ERA in Spanish) room strategy implemented in Colombia is an important tool to reduce hospitalization and mortality rates in this population.

Background & Aims: Tools for screening of nutrition risk in patients with cancer are usually validated against other screening instruments. Here with the performance of Malnutrition Screening Tool (MST) and Nutritional Screening Tool (NUTRISCORE) to identify the risk of malnutrition was assessed. A full nutritional evaluation and diagnosis following criteria from the Global Leadership Initiative of Malnutrition (GLIM) was the reference standard for the classification of malnutrition.

Association between ventilatory ratio and mortality in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome and COVID 19: A multicenter, retrospective cohort study.

Background: Mortality rates in patients with COVID-19 undergoing mechanical ventilation in the intensive care unit are high. The causes of this mortality have been rigorously investigated. The aim of the present study is to establish mortality risk factors related to lung mechanics measured at days 1 and 5 in patients with covid-19 ARDS managed with invasive mechanical ventilation in the intensive care unit.
