The work presented herein reports on the synthesis, structural and physico-chemical characterization, luminescence properties and luminescent sensing activity of a family of isostructural coordination polymers (CPs) with the general formula [Ln(μ-5Meip)(DMF)] (where Ln(III) = Sm (), Eu (), Gd (), Tb () and Yb () and 5Meip = 5-methylisophthalate, DMF = N,N-dimethylmethanamide). Crystal structures consist of 3D frameworks tailored by the linkage between infinite lanthanide(III)-carboxylate rods by means of the tetradentate 5Meip ligands. Photoluminescence measurements in solid state at variable temperatures reveal the best-in-class properties based on the capacity of the 5Meip ligand to provide efficient energy transfers to the lanthanide(III) ions, which brings intense emissions in both the visible and near-infrared (NIR) regions.

For the first time we report the validation of reference genes in plants from a population of blueberry () clones cultured in vitro on a colchicine-supplemented medium. Nodal segment explants of the cultivar Duke were regenerated by organogenesis under different periods of colchicine 1 mg/L exposure (1, 2, 3, 5, 30 days). The clones selected for the study showed variability for phenotypic traits after 2 years of adaptation to field conditions, compared to plants of the donor genotype that were regenerated on a medium without colchicine.

We describe a case of an unusual fast growing lung micropapillary-predominant adenocarcinoma in a nonsmoker male patient without pre-existing lung disease. Adenocarcinomas have been described to be slow growing tumors, however our patient presented a fast-growing rate over a period of 21 days. Ferrocene (Fc) in ether reduces HAuCl4 in water within seconds under ambient conditions in air upon stirring, forming ferricinium chloride stabilized water-soluble 20 nm gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) that are redispersible in the presence of poly(N-vinylmethylpyrrolidone) or NaBH4 + thiol. After reduction with NaBH4 yielding Fc and 26 nm sodium poly(hydroxyborate) stabilized AuNPs, the core size no longer changes following reactions with thiols providing (RS)nAuNPs.
