In this work we present an improvement to the popular Active Appearance Model (AAM) algorithm, that we call the Multiple-Levelset AAM (MLA). The MLA can simultaneously segment multiple objects, and makes use of multiple levelsets, rather than anatomical landmarks, to define the shapes. AAMs traditionally define the shape of each object using a set of anatomical landmarks.

The authors measured nasal resistance in 53 children aged 5 to 13 years treated for bite disorders. Comparison of the results with a normal control group of children of the same age demonstrated that major nasal incompetence was 4 times more common in the group of children with orthodontic abnormalities. Nasal incompetence with permanent buccal respiration leads to disordered growth and modification of the morphogenesis of the naso-ethmoid-maxillary unit.

Based on 5 cases of unexplained prolonged fever, the authors stress the need to systematically look for a dental focus of infection. They discuss the difficulties in determining the site of the probable causal focus and stress the uncertain pathogenic relationship between the dental focus of infection and the fever. The extraction of infected teeth leads to a cure, however, the functional disadvantages of multiple extractions need to be carefully taken into account.

A statistic and processing study of 40 cases of open bite deformities in infants is proposed from exact clinical examinations, and various teleradiographic analysis (Coutand, Delaire, Tweed, Sassouni). The statistic study set off the anatomical complexity of open bite deformities. The processing study, recording the concordance among various teleradiographic techniques, clear 4 associated dysmorphic groups susceptible to allow adjusted treatment planning.

A review of the pathogenic, immunologic, pathologic and radiologic features of the small schistosomiasic bladder, and a study of its surgical treatment, from 11 cases observed in Ivory Coast. Pathological aspects and surgical intervention are almost similar to "tuberculous small bladder". Uretero-ileo-cystoplasty, either uni or bilateral performed, according to Couvelaire's technique gives good results: urinary comfort, pain and infection improvement, and renal functions returning to normal.
