Objectives: To investigate the chemical and mechanical properties of polyphenylene sulfone (PPSU) depending on its composition and manufacturing.
Methods: Unfilled-PPSU1 and with antimicrobial silver coated zeolites filled-PPSU2 specimens were made of granulate-GR, filament-FI, or printed-3D. Scanning microscopy and X-ray spectroscopy were performed.
In the seminal field of 3D printing of dental restorations, the time and cost saving manufacturing of removable and fixed dental prostheses from thermoplastic polymer materials employing fused filament fabrication (FFF) is gaining momentum. As of today, the additive manufacturing of the established semi-crystalline polyetheretherketone (PEEK) requires extensive post-processing and lacks precision. In this context, the amorphous polyphenylene sulfone (PPSU) may provide a higher predictability and reliability of the results.

Purpose: The purpose of this in vitro study was to test the surface properties and the tensile bond strength (TBS) between PPSU and a veneering composite resin in comparison with a polyetheretherketone (PEEK).
Introduction: Prevention of intraoperative miosis in hybrid (femtosecond laser-assisted) phacoemulsification is a relevant problem of cataract surgery.
Purpose: Development and clinical study of an effective method for preventing intraoperative miosis in hybrid (femtosecond laser-assisted) phacoemulsification.
Material And Methods: Hybrid phacoemulsification was performed in 300 patients (300 eyes).
Unlabelled: Surgical treatment of intraocular lens (IOL) with late dislocation remains one of the current problems of ophthalmology.
Purpose: To evaluate specific morphofunctional changes in the eye after dislocated IOL exchange with retropupillary-fixated iris-claw IOL.
Material And Methods: Surgical outcomes of 150 patients (150 eyes) with in-the-bag IOL dislocation (122 eyes) or sulcus-fixated IOL dislocation (28 eyes) were analyzed.
Unlabelled: Prevention and treatment of cataract surgery complications in patients with lens subluxation remains one of the current problems of phaco surgeries.
Purpose: To develop and to test the surgical technique for reimplantation of in-the-bag dislocated intraocular lenses (IOL) or sulcus-fixated IOL.
Material And Methods: Surgical outcomes of 150 patients (150 eyes) with in-the-bag IOL dislocation (122 eyes) or sulcus fixated IOL dislocation (28 eyes) were analyzed.
Lenses with high numerical aperture are required for images with very high spatial resolution, which is difficult to realize in the x-ray range because of low-refraction-index decrement and relatively high absorption of x-rays in the material. However, such an aperture can be realized by means of a mosaic lens, as shown in this work.

However, the diagnostic value of this method has so far not been investigated in detail. Therefore, the purpose of this study was, in a blinded manner, to investigate whether malignancy could be revealed by non-invasive x-ray phase-contrast tomography in lymph nodes from breast cancer patients.

The aim of this paper is to demonstrate how grating based phase-contrast CT can provide contrast superior to standard absorption based CT. The method of phase-contrast CT is applied to two samples of porcine subcutaneous fat and rind.

For the reduction of the cardiotoxic effects of anthracyclines, one part of patients was given an antioxidant preparation of amber acid--Reamberin--whose administration substantially decreased both the frequency of cardial complaints and the expression of clinical manifestations of the astheno-neurotic syndrome and prevented the occurrence of systolic and diastolic dysfunction of myocardium and the heart rhythm and conductivity disturbances.

Its outstanding functional importance in the organism implies a strong need for brain imaging modalities. Although magnetic resonance imaging provides deep insights, its spatial resolution is insufficient to study the structure on the level of individual cells.

Methods: Adult patients (PC(20) methacholine <8 mg/ml, FEV(1)% predicted >or=70%) received salmeterol/fluticasone propionate combination 50/250 microg bd (SFC250) for a 12-week run-in; those achieving well-controlled (WC) asthma were randomised to SFC250 (n = 88) or SFC50/500 microg bd (SFC500) (n = 90) for 24 weeks. AHR (PC(20) methacholine), asthma control, lung function, symptoms, exacerbations and safety were assessed.
We conducted a study for the purpose of developing a phacoemulsification technique for patients with high myopia optimized for the specificity of myopic eye. The study involved 124 (165 eyes) patients with high myopia and cataract. The lens density in operated patients was of degrees II-IV according to Buratto.

The safety and efficiency of applying a loop fragmentizer in phacoemulsification of high-density cataract were equally demonstrated. The method advantages are conditioned by that a preliminary splitting of the nucleus into fragments without trenches being shaped cuts essentially the total capacity and duration of ultrasound impact, thus, the irrigation time and the needed volume of balance salt solution also decrease intraoperatively: it, naturally, diminishes the generally-known traumatic aftermaths of surgical intervention.

Characterization of four hybridomal clones and data on the antigenic specificity of the monoclonal antibodies are given.
