Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is a severe clinical problem without effective treatment; the leading cause is neuroinflammation. High-mobility group box one protein (HMGB1) is an abundant protein in the cell nucleus of most mammalian cells, which exerts its function by binding to chromatin. The present study focused on the therapeutic effect of anti-HMGB1 on ICH via the downregulation of inflammatory pathways.

The formation of protein corona (PC) around nanoparticles (NPs) has been reported inside biological conditions. This effect can alter delivery capacity toward the targeted tissues. Here, we synthesized folic acid-modified chitosan NPs (FA-CS NPs) using different concentrations of folic acid (5, 10, and 20%).

Release and storage of energy can be regulated by the metabolic parameter dependent on the central nervous system. Macrophages are one of the most professional antigen-presenting cells that are formed by the accumulation of dead or damaged cells or in response to the infection, which has the main function of phagocytosis, secretion of cytokines, and presenting antigen to T cells. A proper immune response is needed for the production of effector cytokines along with comprehensive and rapid cell proliferation and growth.

Cyclin Dependent Kinase 9 (CDK9) as a serine/threonine kinase belongs to a great number of CDKs. CDK9 is the main core of PTEF-b complex and phosphorylates RNA polymerase (RNAP) II besides other transcription factors which regulate gene transcription elongation in numerous physiological processes. Multi-functional nature of CDK9 in diverse cellular pathways proposes that it is as an appealing target.

Article Synopsis
  • * The sample underwent extensive characterization techniques such as XRD, HRTEM, SEM, FT-IR, EDS, and Raman spectroscopy to analyze its structure and properties.
  • * Dielectric and electrical behaviors were studied using complex impedance spectroscopy, revealing that the nanocomposite behaves like a relaxor, with its dielectric constant varying with temperature and frequency, and showing non-monotonic relaxation behavior modeled by a non-Arrhenius approach.

Background: Platinum compounds are the main drugs for treatment of advanced gastric cancer. Previous studies have shown that clinical outcome with platinum-based compounds depends on ERCC1 polymorphisms. The aim of this study was to investigate the frequency of a common polymorphism of ERCC1 gene (C8092A) in Iranian patients with advanced gastric cancer receiving platinum chemotherapy.

Background: In this paper a template-free precipitation method was used as an easy and low cost way to synthesize Ag2S semiconductor nanoparticles. The Kramers-Kronig method (K-K) and classical dispersion theory was applied to calculate the optical constants of the prepared samples, such as the reflective index n(ω) and dielectric constant ε(ω) in Far-infrared regime.

Results: Nanocrystalline Ag2S was synthesized by a wet chemical precipitation method.

A template-free precipitation method was used as a simple and low cost method for preparation of CeO2 nanoparticles. The structure and morphology of the prepared nanoparticle samples were studied in detail using X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) measurements. The whole powder pattern modelling (WPPM) method was applied on XRD data to accurately measure the crystalline domain size and their size distribution.

Laser ablation-based nanoparticle synthesis in solution is rapidly becoming popular, particularly for potential biomedical and life science applications. This method promises one pot synthesis and concomitant bio-functionalization, is devoid of toxic chemicals, does not require complicated apparatus, can be combined with natural stabilizers, is directly biocompatible, and has high particle size uniformity. Size control and reduction is generally determined by the laser settings; that the size and size distribution scales with laser fluence is well described.

In the present work, we prepared silver nanoparticles by laser ablation of pure silver plate in ethanol and then irradiated the silver nanoparticles using a 532 nm Q-switched Nd:YAG pulsed laser. Transmission electron microscopic images of the sample after irradiation clearly showed formation of big structures, such as microrods and microbelts in ethanol. The obtained microbelts had a width of about 0.

Silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs) were successfully synthesized using the UV irradiation of aqueous solutions containing AgNO(3) and gelatin as a silver source and stabilizer, respectively. The UV irradiation times influence the particles' diameter of the Ag-NPs, as evidenced from surface plasmon resonance (SPR) bands and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images. When the UV irradiation time was increased, the mean size of particles continuously decreased as a result of photoinduced Ag-NPs fragmentation.

Silver nanoparticles were fabricated by ablation of a pure silver plate immersed in castor oil. A Nd:YAG-pulsed Q-switch laser with 1064-nm wavelength and 10-Hz frequency was used to ablate the plate for 10 minutes. The sample was characterized by ultraviolet-visible, atomic absorption, Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopies, and transmission electron microscopy.

Laser ablation of a silver plate immersed in virgin coconut oil was carried out for fabrication of silver nanoparticles. A Nd:YAG laser at wavelengths of 1064 nm was used for ablation of the plate at different times. The virgin coconut oil allowed formation of nanoparticles with well-dispersed, uniform particle diameters that were stable for a reasonable length of time.
