[Impact of the intra-aortic balloon pump in the mortality due to cardiogenic shock secondary to acute myocardial infarction].

Objective: To determine the impact of the intra-aortic balloon pump in the mortality due to cardiogenic shock post-acute myocardial infarction.

Methods: In a two-year period, 292 patients with acute myocardial infarction were admitted to the coronary intensive care unit, 40 were included in the study. Afterwards, patients were divided in two groups: early cardiogenic and late cardiogenic shock, and they were assigned randomly and blind to treatment with inotropics and inotropics plus intra-aortic balloon pump.

Hepatic Echinococcus granulosus. A case report.

A 32-year-old woman was admitted to hospital complaining of right upper quadrant and epigastrium abdominal pain, and nausea. On routine physical examination an abdominal mass was discovered on the right upper quadrant. Liver tests were normal.
