19 IMZ-implants with a medium age of incorporation of 10.5 months were examined at four sites concerning their periimplantary situation. Gingival index, bleeding on probing, pocket depth and composition of subgingival plaque corresponded in 67% of the examined sites with periodontal health.

A programme for the investigation of the behaviour of bioactive and bioinactive implant materials by the osseous bed was enlarged by the scanning. This one allows a follow-up of bone processes in vivo. The implants were inserted into the patellar surface of the right and left femur of rabbits.

The traditional alloplastic implant materials and their applications are represented and are investigated in a comparative scanning electron microscopical study between bone and alloplastic. Provable are clear in "bio-vitroceramic Ap 40" compounds to the bone in the scanning electron microscopical photo-contrary to titanium, tantalum and teflon.

A 140% increase in the breaking strength of Keradens facings may be achieved by ion exchange, i.e., by substitution of the small sodium ions in soda feldspar by the larger potassium ions, which is done by melting the soda feldspar with potassium nitrate.
