Objective: To estimate the point prevalence and likely ranges of pregnancy-induced hypertension, pre-eclampsia, gestational diabetes, low birth weight and preterm delivery in Latin America and the Caribbean, and evaluate the heterogeneity of the estimates.
Methods: We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of observational studies reporting the prevalence of maternal and perinatal adverse outcomes in populations in Latin American and the Caribbean published between 2000 and 2019 in English, Spanish, or Portuguese. We searched PubMed, Embase, and LILACS.
Highly malignant triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) cells rely mostly on glycolysis to maintain cellular homeostasis; however, mitochondria are still required for migration and metastasis. Taking advantage of the metabolic flexibility of TNBC MDA-MB-231 cells to generate subpopulations with glycolytic or oxidative phenotypes, we screened phenolic compounds containing an ortho-carbonyl group with mitochondrial activity and identified a bromoalkyl-ester of hydroquinone named FR58P1a, as a mitochondrial metabolism-affecting compound that uncouples OXPHOS through a protonophoric mechanism. In contrast to well-known protonophore uncoupler FCCP, FR58P1a does not depolarize the plasma membrane and its effect on the mitochondrial membrane potential and bioenergetics is moderate suggesting a mild uncoupling of OXPHOS.

Methods: We performed a descriptive study of 34 consecutive patients who met the criteria of the International Classification of Sleep Disorders for SRED evaluated during a 3-year period who did not have an eating disorder according to the criteria of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, fourth edition. All patients had a structured clinical interview performed by a sleep specialist and completed the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI).
The purpose of this study was to increase the microbiological quality and yields of goat cheese prepared at farm level. For this purpose, appropriate technologies for the cheese-making process were designed, using a curd tank heated by gas, and cheese knives adjusted to the tank dimensions. Moreover, a low-cost table for whey draining and PVC moulds, were designed.
