This study presents a total synthesis and revision of the stereochemical configuration of the conformationally flexible natural product benzo[]isochromene stereodiad alongside its diastereomeric counterparts. The highlights of the synthesis are the TiCl-mediated diastereoselective aldol reaction, Pd-catalyzed lactonization, and Schmidt glycosidation. Our efforts using total synthesis disclosed herein proved that a previously assigned structure required revision.

This study explains the vibration and interaction of three pharmaceutically active hydrazine derivatives, (E)-3-((2-(2,5-difluorophenyl)hydrazono)methyl)-4H-chromen-4-one (DFH), (E)-3-((2-(4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)hydrazono)methyl)-4H-chromen-4-one (TMH), and (E)-3-((2-(3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)hydrazono)methyl)-4H-chromen-4-one (BPH) using theoretical approach. The trend in chemical reactivity and stability of the studied compounds was observed to show increasing stability and decreasing reactivity and this was obtained from orbital energies. The effect of bromine and chlorine atoms, instead of fluorine atoms, is also noted.

We present an angular analysis of the B^{+}→K^{*+}(→K_{S}^{0}π^{+})μ^{+}μ^{-} decay using 9  fb^{-1} of pp collision data collected with the LHCb experiment. For the first time, the full set of CP-averaged angular observables is measured in intervals of the dimuon invariant mass squared. Local deviations from standard model predictions are observed, similar to those in previous LHCb analyses of the isospin-partner B^{0}→K^{*0}μ^{+}μ^{-} decay.

The structural, spectroscopic various physico-chemical and biological characteristics of the organic molecule benzil (BZL) and derivatives, 1,2-bis(4-methylphneyl)-1,2-ethanedione (DMB), 4,4'-difluorobenzil (DFB), 4,4'-dichlorobenzil (DCB) and 4,4'-dibromobenzil (DBB) have been studied by various computational methods. The experimental and scaled simulated Raman and IR spectra were compared and found close agreement. Assignments of important peaks are also presented.

The organic molecule tenoxicam and similar derivatives, piroxicam and isoxicam have been studied by quantum chemical theory (DFT), FT-Raman and FT-IR. By FMOs energies the charge transfer inside the molecules are obtained. The UV-Vis spectra of the compounds are simulated to study the electronic transition in the target molecules.

A new chloranilate compound with 1-(2-fluorophenyl)piperazine has been synthesized and characterized using spectroscopic methods and X-ray diffraction. The atomic arrangement can be described by an H-bonded 3D network, formed by anionic entities, organic cations and HO molecules linked together via NH…O, OH…Cl, CH…Cl and CH…O hydrogen bonds. The vibrational absorption bands of the various characteristic groups of this compound have been identified by infrared spectroscopy.

Platelet discoid shape is known to correlate with in vivo viability after transfusion. Measurement of shape change requires invasive sampling and laborious assays, which is difficult to perform in a blood transfusion center as a routine test for quality control of stored platelets. Coronary stents that are developed for use with balloon angioplasty are known to cause acute occlusion and long-term stenosis. It is likely that a controlled release of drugs at the site of stent implantation might inhibit the proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMC) and reduce restenosis. However, if the drug is necrotic and affects cell survival near the implant, it may interrupt the local tissue regeneration.

Detection of adhered platelets on biomaterial surface that has blood-contacting application is an important test to assess its thrombogenicity. Usually, for measurement of platelet adhesion, after exposure to platelet-rich plasma (PRP) under standardized conditions the test surface is rinsed to remove non-adherent cells and is analyzed under scanning electron microscopy (SEM) to detect morphology of adhered cell and degree of aggregate formation. However, being a qualitative test it is unlikely to give an accurate estimate of platelets adhered to the surface.
