Two-dimensional (2D) materials have recently drawn interest in various applications due to their superior electronic properties, high specific surface area, and surface activity. However, studies on the catalytic properties of the 2D counterpart of VO are scarce. In the present study, the catalytic properties of 2D VO vis-à-vis bulk VO for the degradation of methylene blue dye are discussed for the first time.

The outer cuticle, middle cortex, and inner medulla make up hair, which is an epidermal outgrowth. Hair is resilient under harsh natural conditions, thus it is frequently collected at crime scenes, making human hair analysis important in the forensic sciences field. It aids in the formation of a triangle connecting a crime scene, a victim, and a culprit.

Diabetes mellitus and its complications carry broad financial misfortune to the diabetic patients and their family, to the well-being frameworks, and to the public economies through direct clinical expenses and decreased work efficiency. The present study systematically reviewed the possible factors that are influencing self-care behavior of disadvantaged diabetic patients that contribute heavily to the management of this chronic illness. Structured searches were conducted on PubMed, ScienceDirect, and manual searches on Google Scholar for articles published between the years 2000 and 2020.

Nanotechnology-based drug delivery research has largely focused on developing well efficient localized delivery therapeutic agents to overcome the limitations of non-specificity and toxicity of conventional chemotherapy. Herein, we constructed a nanoplatform based on a self-assembled polysaccharide-protein conjugate to deliver anti-tumor drug doxorubicin and gold nanoparticles (DOX@PST-BSA AuNPs) for cancer therapy. The self-assembled DOX@PST-BSA AuNPs exhibited higher stability and thermal properties which enable them for drug delivery via passive targeting.

Methane (CH) gas, the second most potent greenhouse gas share a substantial role in contributing to the global warming and it is a necessary pre-requisite to detect the release of CH into the environment at its early stage to combat climate change. In that front, this work is focussed to develop an effective CH gas sensor using vanadium pentoxide (VO) thin films that works at an operating temperature of ∼100 °C. To understand the effect of sputtering power towards the structural characteristics of VO films, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM) analysis were performed from which the orthorhombic polycrystalline structure of VO thin films was confirmed with varied texture co-efficient.

Paclitaxel, an effective chemotherapeutic drug, is insoluble in aqueous solvents and is usually administered with excipients which have side effects. The use of this drug is also limited due to multi-drug resistance. In this study polysaccharide nanoparticles are used in the delivery of chemotherapeutic drug while minimizing side-effects, solubility issues and drug resistance.

In this work boehmite was used as an acid-base bifunctional catalyst for aldol condensation reactions of aromatic aldehydes and ketones. The catalyst was prepared by simple sol-gel method using Al(NO3)3·9H2O and NH4OH as precursors. The catalyst has been characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), UV-visible spectroscopy (DRS), BET surface area analyses.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examines how the methanol extract from Tribulus terrestris L. fruit can protect heart cells from damage caused by reduced blood flow (ischemia), specifically in a model using H9c2 cells.
  • To simulate ischemia, cells were subjected to a low-oxygen environment and treated with varying concentrations of the extract and a control drug (Cyclosporin A) before the ischemic event.
  • The findings indicate that the extract helps maintain mitochondrial function and antioxidant levels, which protects the cells from ischemic damage, supporting its potential use in treating heart disorders.

This study deals with the preparation and characterization of selenium incorporated guar gum nanoparticle (SGG), and its effect on H9c2 cardiomyoblast. Herein, nanoprecipitation techniques had been employed for the preparation of SGG nanoparticle. The prepared nanoparticle had been subjected to various types of analytical techniques like transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and particle size analysis to confirm the characteristics of nanoparticle as well as for selenium incorporation.

The title compound, C(21)H(18)N(2)O(3), exists in the E conformation with respect to the azomethane C=N double bond. The central benzene ring is almost coplanar with one of the substituent benzene rings [dihedral angle = 1.74 (5)°] and is approximately orthogonal to the other benzene ring of the mol-ecule [dihedral angle = 86.
