Introduction The prevalence of obesity and related disorders is rapidly rising due to altered food habits, sedentary lifestyles and stress. Adipose tissue releases various hormones known as adipokines; one example is chemerin, which is primarily expressed by hepatocytes, adipocytes, and immune cells. Adipokine dysregulation in obesity initiates the cascade of inflammation and insulin resistance that leads to various metabolic disorders such as diabetes mellitus, metabolic syndrome (MS), and metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD).

Irisin, is a new myokine, considered a favorable metabolic factor and inversely associated with non-communicable diseases. The biological activities of irisin are currently unknown; however, they include browning white adipose tissue, insulin sensitivity, and anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. Triglyceride glucose index is a notable insulin resistance marker that predicts the risk of metabolic dyslipidemia and cardiovascular risk.

There is a knowledge gap in the literature regarding oral health disparities (OHD) in minority and indigenous (IG) paediatric cohorts that needs to be addressed. Disparities in oral health among children are a pressing concern, highlighting inequities in access to dental care and meeting needs. The current systematic review aims to provide a comprehensive synthesis of the prevailing understanding of OHD in the minority and IG strata.

Objective: The aim of this study was to establish a modality for behavioral intervention for dental management in autistic children using Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS).

Study Design: A prospective interventional study was carried out on 30 autistic children in the age range of 4-18 years diagnosed with mild to moderate grades of autism to evaluate the effectiveness of PECS in improving oral health over a period of 6 months.

Results: PECS Phases showed a gradual rise from first to third visit, which was statistically highly significant ( < 0.

Background & Objectives: Cells and cell proportions may indicate the equilibrium status of the immune system. The present study was conducted to evaluate the role of cytokines and the immunocompetent cells as biomarkers of remission in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients intended to withdraw or reduce disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug (DMARD) treatment.

Methods: This prospective observational study involved newly diagnosed and treated RA patients who fulfilled 2010 American College of Rheumatology (ACR)/European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) criteria.

Schools provide a crucial platform for health promotion as the school years are a vital stage in one's life, where lifelong general and oral health-related behaviours are developed and established. The components of Health Promoting Schools (HPSs) suggested by World Health Organization provide guidance for facilitating health promotion within this setting. This study aimed to assess the adherence to the components of HPSs amongst schools in Bengaluru, India utilizing a comprehensive tool developed for the purpose.

Objectives: The neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is one of the well-recognized sensitive measures of inflammation. This cross-sectional observational study was aimed at characterizing the relationship of NLR with the inflammatory markers erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), C-reative protein (CRP), Disease Activity Score of 28 joints (DAS28)-CRP(3), joint counts and quality measures of rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

Materials And Methods: Patients with RA were recruited in two phases.

Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), a chronic metabolic disorder caused by insulin resistance (IR) and elevated blood glucose level, may lead to endothelial dysfunction. This can result in the development of various vascular complications, even in clinically controlled glycemic state.

Aim: It has been experimentally proven that cytokine influences both IR and endothelial progenitor cell (EPC) dysfunction in T2DM patients.

The yellow stem borer (YSB), , is a prominent pest in rice cultivation causing serious yield losses. The larval stage is an important stage in YSB, responsible for maximum infestation. However, limited knowledge exists on the biology and mechanisms underlying the growth and differentiation of YSB.

Introduction: Follicular Dendritic Cell Sarcomas (FDCS) are rare disorders of the lymph node and soft tissues. Accurate characterization of these neoplasms is important in planning optimal treatment given its potential for recurrence and metastasis.

Aim: To analyse the clinicopathological profile and outcomes of a series of 10 cases of follicular dendritic cell sarcoma arising in the head and neck region diagnosed at our regional cancer centre.

RNAi is a powerful tool to target the insect genes involved in host-pest interactions. Key insect genes are the choice for silencing to achieve pest derived resistance where resistance genes are not available in gene pool of host plant. In this study, an attempt was made to determine the effect of dsRNA designed from two genes Cytochrome P450 derivative (CYP6) and Aminopeptidase N (APN) of rice yellow stem borer (YSB) on growth and development of insect.

RNA interference (RNAi) is a mechanism of homology dependent gene silencing present in plants and animals. It operates through 21-24 nucleotides small RNAs which are processed through a set of core enzymatic machinery that involves Dicer and Argonaute proteins. In recent past, the technology has been well appreciated toward the control of plant pathogens and insects through suppression of key genes/proteins of infecting organisms.

Being an Oncologist, I have seen many patients suffering from cancer. It pains a lot looking at them fighting the battle of life, though knowing that they would lose miserably and surrender meekly as majority of the patients report to the hospital at an advanced stage of disease and only palliative care may be the option. There is an urgent need to create - Cancer Awareness in the villages and also about the end of life care in all terminally ill patients.

Undergraduate medical students get fewer opportunities to clarify their doubts and to reinforce their understanding of concepts after lecture classes. There is no information available in the literature that addresses the question of usefulness of prior formulation of questions followed by small group discussion by undergraduate medical students as a revision exercise. The purpose of this work is to evaluate the effect of formulation of objective type short answer questions by undergraduate medical students followed by small group discussion on the answers of the questions prepared as a revision exercise on their understanding of the topic "amino acid metabolism" and the retention of the gain after 15 days.

Background: We evaluated the effect of student-dominated small group discussion followed by faculty-moderated presentation as a revision exercise after completion of a teaching module in biochemistry. We assessed the understanding of graduate medical students on the topic and the gain in retention of information, if any, after 15 days.

Methods: Small group discussions involving 11-12 students in each group were conducted on 12 application-oriented problems in 'amino acid metabolism'.
