Background: Interleukin (IL)-33 is a member of IL-1 beta family of cytokines having a pivotal role in bone destruction. However, its role in periodontal disease is not clearly established. The objective of the present study was to evaluate salivary and gingival IL-33 expression in periodontally healthy and diseased individuals.

Single step fabrication of hollow microneedles and an experimental package for controlled drug delivery.

Hollow microneedle arrays (HMNs) are an excellent choice for managing chronic diseases requiring the administration of multiple drug doses over a prolonged duration. However, HMNs have gained partial success due to limitations in their manufacturing capabilities, and cumbersome processes. In the present study, polymeric HMNs were fabricated using a novel single-step drop-casting process without needing cleanroom facilities, and sophisticated instrumentation.

Estimation and correlation of procalcitonin in saliva and serum of chronic periodontitis patients before and after nonsurgical periodontal therapy: An analytical comparative study.

Background: Procalcitonin (ProCT) is an emerging inflammatory biomarker in bacterial infections. Few studies have reported raising salivary ProCT in periodontitis patients. Hence, the study aims to analyze and correlate the changes in saliva and serum ProCT in periodontitis patients before and after nonsurgical periodontal therapy.

Background: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a polyarticular disorder with many extra-articular features. Cardiovascular disorders, including heart failure (HF), are the leading causes of mortality in RA patients. We studied the prevalence of left ventricular dysfunction (LVD) in patients with RA.

Can home video facilitate diagnosis of epilepsy type in a developing country?

Objectives: The study aimed to evaluate the feasibility and yield of semiological features from home videos and compare them to those inferred from history provided by the caregiver of a person with epilepsy (PWE). A comparison of the accuracy of classification of epilepsy based on home videos and medical history was also done.

Methods: We enrolled PWEs who were awaiting admission for video electroencephalography (VEEG) to the epilepsy monitoring unit (EMU) in this prospective observational study.

This paper proposes an improved method based on Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) brain image classification and image segmentation approach. Automated classification is encouraged by the need of high accuracy when dealing with a human life.

In situ fabrication of electrochemically grown mesoporous metallic thin films by anodic dissolution in deep eutectic solvents.

We describe here a simple electrodeposition process of forming thin films of noble metallic nanoparticles such as Au, Ag and Pd in deep eutectic solvents (DES). The method consists of anodic dissolution of the corresponding metal in DES followed by the deposition on the cathodic surface. The anodic dissolution process in DES overcomes the problems associated with copious hydrogen and oxygen evolution on the electrode surface when carried out in aqueous medium.
