Diethanolamine (DEA) can be used not only as a cement admixture but also to capture carbon dioxide (CO). However, the waste liquid treatment still faces the problems of high energy consumption and increasing environmental burden. The effects of DEA waste liquid (WL-DEA) with multiple cycles of CO absorption and desorption on the setting time, hydration temperature, mechanical strength, and microstructure of cement-based materials were explored.

The cement industry has achieved the harmless and resourceful disposal of incineration fly ash, but the environmental safety of heavy metals during its service life is still unknown. Therefore, the evolution of heavy metal leaching during the wet-dry cycle of the incineration of fly ash after different solidification treatments has been studied. We provide a theoretical basis for the long-term safe use of incineration fly ash after resource utilization.

Article Synopsis
  • * Results showed that both types of ash were alkaline, with GF ash containing higher levels of chlorine and dioxin and significant heavy metal concentrations, particularly Zn.
  • * When used in cement production, GF ash enhanced compressive strength and accelerated hydration, while CFB ash generated hydrogen gas that caused cracking; however, both types posed no major risks for leaching heavy metals under standard limits.

Municipal solid waste incineration fly ash (raw ash) can be used as an admixture, but it contains much toxic substances and has a negative effect on cement performance. Co-sintering technology has the potential to solve the above problems. When Municipal solid waste incineration fly ash and fly ash from coal-fired power plants were co-sintering, the effects on the properties of incineration fly ash and used as an admixture was studied.

Shotcrete is a crucial component of tunnel engineering. To investigate the impact of fluoride-containing alkali-free liquid accelerators on the structural safety of shotcrete, this study prepared shotcrete using three different fluoride-based alkali-free liquid accelerators: magnesium fluosilicate, fluosilicic acid, and hydrofluoric acid. The corrosion of steel rebar within the shotcrete was examined and compared with that of shotcrete prepared using a fluoride-free alkali-free liquid accelerator.

If there was abundant fluorine in shotcrete, it might leach out and pollute the soil or migrate to corrode the reinforcement. Therefore, this research mainly investigated the basic properties of high-fluorine alkali free liquid accelerator (HF-AFA) and its occurrence forms in cement hydration products. The macro-test results showed that with the increase of HF-AFA dosage, it appeared excellent coagulation promoting property.

Utilizing various industrial solid waste to replace cement to prepare mud solidification materials could achieve energy conservation, carbon reduction and sustainable development. This research conducted solidification mud (SM) experiments using solidification agent (SA) compounded by mixing five types of solid waste. The focus was on studying the performance of SA and SM in the presence of different activators, as well as the influence of different activators on the SA curing mechanism.

High-fluorine alkali-free liquid accelerator (AF, F concentration was about 2.31g/L) was still used in engineering because of its low cost, excellent stability, and coagulation-promoting effect. The main purpose of this study was to explore the leaching behavior of fluorine ions in shotcrete for tunnel lining with high-fluorine alkali-free liquid accelerator and whether there was fluoride pollution.
