Background: Magnesium, known as "the forgotten electrolyte", is an essential element of life. Magnesium deficiency is implicated in many diseases, including liver cirrhosis. Recent studies have demonstrated that a majority of tumor cells overexpress B7-H1, and this overexpression is associated with poor disease prognosis. Although an increase of T(regs) and B7-H1 has been revealed in several malignancies, their correlation in gastric cancer has not been studied.
