We investigated the extent to which parents' prosocial talk and negations relate to the quantity and diversity of parents' spatial language production. We also examined similar associations among children. Participants included 51 children of ages 4-7 years and their parents recruited from South Florida.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) pneumonia emerged in Wuhan, China in December 2019. Unfortunately, there is a lack of evidence about the optimal management of novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), and even less is available in patients on maintenance hemodialysis therapy than in the general population. In this retrospective, observational, single-center study, we analyzed the clinical course and outcomes of all maintenance hemodialysis patients hospitalized with COVID-19 from March 12th to April 10th, 2020 as confirmed by real-time polymerase chain reaction.

Left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) regression after kidney transplantation may be influenced by immunosuppression. In a 24-month open-label, multicenter, phase-IV study, 71 kidney allograft recipients without previous acute rejection, showing eGFR >40 ml/min and proteinuria <500 mg/day and between 6 months and 3 years post-transplantation, were randomized to receive everolimus (EVR) + mycophenolic acid (MPA) or were maintained on tacrolimus (TAC) + MPA. The aim was to assess whether the conversion to EVR could reduce left ventricular mass index (LVMi) at month-24.

For decades, the source of Earth's volatiles, especially water with a deuterium-to-hydrogen ratio (D/H) of (1.558 ± 0.001) × 10(-4), has been a subject of debate.

Background. Renal re-transplants are increasing in number, due to many first renal transplant patients coming back to dialysis treatment. There are controversial opinions about the evolution of these re-transplanted patients.

Introduction: The use of mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) is limited by gastrointestinal adverse events (GI-AEs). Enteric-coated mycophenolate sodium (EC-MPS) was developed to avoid these effects.

Methods: This multicenter prospective study sought to analyze the clinical benefit of EC-MPS among 726 stable renal transplant recipients in Spain.

This study assays therapy with basiliximab and different patterns of cyclosporin A (CsA) initiation in renal transplant (RT) recipients from expanded criteria donors (ECD) and at high risk of delayed graft function (DGF). A multicentre six-month open-label randomized trial with three parallel groups treated with basiliximab plus steroids, mycophenolate mofetil and different patterns of CsA initiation: early within 24 h post-RT at 3 mg/kg/d (Group 1; n = 38), and at 5 mg/kg/d (Group 2; n = 40), or delayed after 7-10 d at 5 mg/kg/d (Group 3; n = 36). There were no differences among groups in six months GFR (43.

Everolimus (Eve) has shown good efficacy and safety profiles in clinical trials in combination with low doses of cyclosporine but there is limited experience in other modes, especially with calcineurin inhibitor elimination. We developed a retrospective study to analyze its clinical use after approval in Europe in 2005. Herein we have presented the results of a series of 272 patients followed for the first 6 months after Eve introduction.

Ethylene glycol intoxication involves acute renal failure and severe metabolic acidosis. Prolonged renal insufficiency can occur but terminal chronic renal failure has been reported in very few cases. We describe a patient who after ingestion of 920 ml of ethylene glycol developed prolonged acute renal failure needing hemodialysis for 37 days and then he partly recovered renal function.

We analyzed the function and outcome of 16 kidney transplants performed in our hospital from non-heart-beating donors who were harvested at other hospitals. The cold ischemia times were longer and the delayed graft function rates higher. However, graft function was no different from that of kidneys from heart-beating donors.

Objective: To present our experience of using arterial embolization for the endovascular treatment of massive hemoptysis along with the results of follow-up over a 15-year period.

Patients And Methods: A total of 401 patients with hemoptysis were referred to the minimally invasive surgery unit of the Hospital Universitario Lozano Blesa de Zaragoza between April 1989 and September 2004 for diagnosis and possible endovascular treatment. Of those patients, 314 met criteria for massive hemoptysis and treatment was attempted using embolization in 287 (91.

Background: The last decade has witnessed a sustained improvement of renal allograft survival that is partly explained by a better preservation of renal allograft function. This study describes time-dependent modifications of serum creatinine (SCr) during the first year after transplantation in the last decade in Spain and characterizes the predictive value of SCr on death-censored graft survival.

Methods: A total of 3365 adult patients transplanted in 1990 (n = 824), 1994 (n = 1075) and 1998 (n = 1466) with a functioning graft after the first year were included.

Objective: The objective of this study is to assess a Simulect (basiliximab) regimen in routine clinical practice in the Spanish kidney transplantation units to evaluate efficacy and safety.

Methods: In this prospective, observational study, data on demographics, parameters of efficacy, and safety in patients who under with kidney transplantation treated with Simulect (basiliximab) were collected through an on-line collection system.

Results: One hundred sixty three patients at 18 kidney transplant units included 12 months follow-up.

Cyclosporin and tacrolimus have improved survival figures in organ transplantation. However, both drugs are potentially nephrotoxic. The immunosuppressive and nephrotoxic effects of both drugs appear to depend on the inhibition of calcineurin.

Unlabelled: Captopril renography (CR) has been shown to be a useful technique in the diagnosis of renovascular hypertension (RVH). This disease is a significant complication of the kidney transplanted patient so that early diagnosis would be extremely useful to preserve renal function and prevent graft loss. This work evaluates the role of CR, together with arteriography and doppler-ultrasound, in the diagnosis of RVH.

Transplant renal artery stenosis (TRAS) is a common complication after transplantation and an important cause of graft dysfunction. Many factors have been implicated as possible causes of TRAS, such as damage from trauma and atherosclerosis. We reviewed all 286 patients transplanted in our unit from January 1990 to July 1997 to study the prevalence, clinical features, and diagnostic and therapeutic approach.

Renal metabolism has been studied in eight dogs before and 48 hr after a 60-min period of renal ischemia induced by clamping the left renal artery with the simultaneous removal of the right kidney, and in 12 sham-operated animals. The study involved the measurement of renal uptake and production of lactate, glutamine, glutamate, alanine, ammonium, and oxygen, and the measurement of the tissue concentrations of ATP, glutamine, lactate, alpha-ketoglutarate, aspartate, and alanine in the renal cortex. Two days after a temporary renal ischemia, the remaining kidney showed a 22% decrease in glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and a 25% decrease in renal plasma flow.

Interleukin 2 production was studied in a family with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and a C4Q0 heterozygous inheritance. Autoimmune manifestations seemed to be associated with the HLA haplotype containing the C4Q0 allele, which was shared by all four ill family members. Concentrations of interleukin 2, however, did not associate either with the haplotype or with the clinical or serological manifestations, as diminished concentrations of interleukin 2 were found in only two subjects with SLE.
