The new 2023 update of the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) staging system for endometrial cancer incorporates the advances made in the understanding of the pathology and molecular classifications into the staging system. While the new staging system aids in precision medicine and may lead to better documentation of prognostic risk categories of endometrial cancer, it is complex and calls for an integrated approach and better communication between multiple disciplines involved in the management of endometrial cancer. In this review article, we address how the referral patterns to imaging services might change considering the updated staging system for endometrial cancer.

Pseudoangiomatous stromal hyperplasia (PASH) is a benign mesenchymal tumor-like lesion of the breast. It is commonly seen as incidental background changes of the intralobular stroma in biopsy specimens performed for other breast lesions. Herein, we have synthesized 4,5-diphenyl-1-imidazole and 2-(1-indol-3-yl)acetonitrile based donor-π-acceptor fluorophores and studied their optical, thermal, electroluminescence properties. Both the fluorophores exhibit high fluorescence quantum yield ( = <0.6) and good thermal stability ( = <300 °C), and could be excellent candidates for OLED applications.

The structural changes in the guest platinum(II)tetraammine complex due to the steric and electronic interactions with the host zeolite frameworks LTL, MWW, and Y have been investigated using density functional theory calculations. It is observed that the square planar geometry of platinum(II)tetraammine complex has been distorted to nonplanar geometry when encapsulated in supercages of zeolite framework. The distortion is found to be higher in LTL than that in Y and MWW frameworks, without affecting the nature of the zeolite framework.

Novel bioactive complexes of Co(II), Cu(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II) metal ions with Schiff base ligand derived from histidine and 1,3-indandione were synthesized and thoroughly characterized by various analytical and spectral techniques. To lay the groundwork for devising, improving, and implementing new technologies to meet the needs of individuals with visual impairments, a systematic literature review was conducted to: a) describe hardware platforms used in assistive devices, b) identify their various applications, and c) summarize practices in user testing conducted with these devices. A search in relevant EBSCO databases for articles published between 1980 and 2014 with terminology related to visual impairment, technology, and tactile sensory adaptation yielded 62 articles that met the inclusion criteria for final review. It was found that while earlier hardware development focused on pin matrices, the emphasis then shifted toward force feedback haptics and accessible touch screens.

We report a case of a 33-year-old Sri Lankan man who presented with flaccid quadriparesis with brainstem signs and acute motor axonal polyneuropathy. MRI of the brain showed multiple abscesses with ring enhancement seen predominantly in the brainstem and upper cervical cord. The patient was initially treated with intravenous immunoglobulin, considering this to be a form of Guillain-Barré syndrome.

In this article, we describe a new platform for probing double stranded DNA (dsDNA) by tracing the "on-off-on" fluorescence signals of quantum dots-cationic porphyrin utilizing fluorescence and synchronous fluorescence measurements. Electrostatic interaction between the negatively charged thioglycolic acid capped CdTe quantum dots (CdTe-TGA QDs) and positively charged porphyrin surfaces leads to drastic quenching (turning off) of the donor by an effective electron transfer process. Interestingly, after the addition of calf thymus DNA (CtDNA), the porphyrins peel off from the quantum dot surface and bind to dsDNA, resulting in the restoration of fluorescence intensity of quantum dots (turning on).

A search for novel organic luminogens led us to design and synthesize some N-fused imidazole derivatives based on imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine as the core and arylamine and imidazole as the peripheral groups. The fluorophores were synthesized through a multicomponent cascade reaction (A(3) coupling) of a heterocyclic azine with an aldehyde and alkyne, followed by Suzuki coupling and a multicomponent cyclization reaction. All of the compounds exhibited interesting photophysical responses, especially arylamine-containing derivatives, which displayed strong positive solvatochromism in the emission spectra that indicated a more polar excited state owing to an efficient charge migration from the donor arylamine to the imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine acceptor.

A series of imidazole derivatives connected with pyridine moiety through phenyl groups were synthesized by using Suzuki coupling followed by multicomponent cyclization reaction. Results obtained from spectroscopic ((1)H NMR, (13)C NMR, Mass) and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis of synthesized compound was in very good agreement with its chemical structure. UV-Vis and fluorescence studies in various solvents with different polarity demonstrated that these compounds were sensitive to the polarity of the microenvironment.
