Objective: Sub-optimal care of people living with dementia has serious consequences for older populations. The 2021 Australian Royal Commission noted that a large proportion of older adults in aged care live with dementia, yet there are limitations in the knowledge and understanding of staff who care for them. In the pursuit of educating pharmacists, physicians, allied health care professionals, researchers, academics, people living with dementia and their carers, and the public, who are facing the challenges of dementia management, the 'Best Practice in Dementia Health Care' conference was held on November 10, 2022 at Western Health (Sunshine Hospital, Melbourne, Australia).

Newly-appearing lung nodules on surveillance imaging in patients with pre-existing lung cancer can present a diagnostic dilemma when attempting to differentiate between metastatic disease, infection, and other inflammatory conditions. Here we report a case of an // metastatic adenocarcinoma patient who underwent lung biopsy for evaluation of upper-lobe predominant lung nodules revealed to represent pulmonary Langerhans cell histiocytosis (PLCH). The patient was a heavy smoker and admitted to increase her smoking habit after initially learning about her diagnosis with lung cancer.

Purpose: Bronchoscopic biopsy of pulmonary carcinoid tumors has been controversial, and no study to date is dedicated to investigate diagnostic yield or safety. We reviewed our single center experience with pulmonary carcinoid tumors over a 10-year time period and assessed the diagnostic yield and safety of bronchoscopic biopsy of these tumors.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted of all bronchopulmonary carcinoid tumors from January 2003 through January 2014 for patients treated at or referred to our tertiary care facility, including patient and tumor characteristics, diagnostic yield, and complications of bronchoscopy.

Background: The histopathologic distinction between typical carcinoid (TC) and atypical carcinoid (AC) of the lung is based largely on mitotic index. Ki-67 may aid in separation of these tumors, as well as the distinction from large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (LCNEC).

Methods: We identified 55 surgically resected primary neuroendocrine lung tumors (39 TC, 7 AC, 9 LCNEC) based on mitotic rate and histologic features.
