Malignant mesothelioma with EWSR1-ATF1 fusion is a rare malignancy described in young adults without asbestos exposure. To the best of our knowledge, outcomes to local and systemic therapies for this subtype of malignant mesothelioma have not been described. This case report describes the clinical course of a 19-year-old man diagnosed with malignant peritoneal mesothelioma with EWSR1-ATF1 fusion localized to the abdomen.

Background: Wound healing processes are influenced by macronutrient intake (protein, carbohydrate and fat). The most favourable diet for cutaneous wound healing is not known, although high-protein diets are currently favoured clinically. This experimental study investigates the optimal macronutrient balance for cutaneous wound healing using a mouse model and the Geometric Framework, a nutrient modelling method, capable of analyzing the individual and interactive effects of a wide spectrum of macronutrient intake.

The insect microsporidian Anncaliia algerae was first described in 2004 as a cause of fatal myositis in an immunosuppressed person from Pennsylvania, USA. Two cases were subsequently reported, and we detail 2 additional cases, including the only nonfatal case. We reviewed all 5 case histories with respect to clinical characteristics, diagnosis, and management and summarized organism life cycle and epidemiology.

Microsatellite instability (MSI) is a hallmark of carcinomas occurring in the setting of hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer, but can also be found in sporadic and colitis-associated tumors. The incidence of MSI in Crohn's disease is unknown and has usually been reported in the colon. We report the case of a 26-year-old man, diagnosed 4 years earlier with Crohn's disease, who developed an associated small bowel adenocarcinoma.
