Analysis of profibrogenic microRNAs (miRNAs) expression in urine and serum of chronic kidney disease (CKD) stage 1-4 patients and their relationship with proteinuria and kidney function.

Purpose: Besides conventional kidney diseases diagnostics, micro RNAs (miRNAs) assessment in urine and serum is considered to be a promising non-invasive method of diagnostics of renal parenchymal diseases and valuable therapeutic target also. The purpose of the study was to investigate the role of several miRNAs as a markers of kidney damage.

Methods: Assessment of 45 chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients stage 1-4 and 17 healthy control.

[Arterial stiffness--pathophysiological significance and practical aspects of assessment].

Arterial stiffness is a dynamic property which depends on structure and function of arteries. Arterial stiffness progresses with age and it is an important factor leading to increase of systolic and pulse pressure and decrease in diastolic blood pressure. Increased arterial stiffness was also found in hypertension, chronic renal failure and diabetes.

Unlabelled: The development of invasive medical procedures involves a decrease of prevalence of generalized infections. Hemodialysed patients are at higher risk of infection. The aim of this study was to analyze microorganisms isolated from blood samples of patients treated at the Department of Nephrology and Internal Diseases of the Medical University in Bydgoszcz.
