- Acute rheumatic fever (ARF) leads to serious long-term health issues, particularly chronic rheumatic heart disease, which affects heart valves.
- The majority of ARF cases (over 80%) occur in low- and middle-income countries, indicating a strong link between this disease and socioeconomic factors.
- Understanding the clinical, genetic, and sociodemographic risk factors of ARF can help healthcare providers identify those at high risk and implement better management and screening strategies to improve patient outcomes.
Objective:: to translate and adapt the BPEWS for the Portuguese language, with the purpose of verifying its applicability in the Brazilian context studied.
Method:: methodological study guided by international and nationally accepted recommendations for translation and adaptation of health measurement instruments. Stages of conceptual, item, semantic, operational and pre-test equivalence are described for obtaining the BPEWS Portuguese version to be used in Brazil.
