Translation and validation of the Simplified Psoriasis Index (SPI) into Brazilian Portuguese.

Background: The Simplified Psoriasis Index is a tool that assesses the current severity, psychosocial impact, past history and interventions in patients with psoriasis through separate components. Two versions are available, one in which the current severity of the disease is evaluated by the patient themselves and another by the physician.

Objectives: Translate the Simplified Psoriasis Index into Brazilian Portuguese and verify its validity.

HTLV-1-associated infective dermatitis and probable HTLV-1- associated myelopathy in an adolescent female.

Human T cell lymphotropic virus type 1 (HTLV-1)-associated infective dermatitis (ID) is a chronic, severe and recurrent eczema occurring during childhood in patients vertically infected with HTLV-1. HTLV-1-associated myelopathy/tropical spastic paraparesia (HAM/ TSP) is slow and progressive. We report the case of an adolescent female from a non-endemic area for HTLV-1 who presents ID and, most likely, associated HAM/TSP.

Olmsted syndrome.

Olmsted syndrome is a rare congenital, sharply circumscribed transgredient palmoplantar keratoderma. It was first described by Olmsted in 1927. The diagnosis of this rare disease depends on clinical features like symmetrical involvement of keratoderma of the palms and soles and the symmetrical hyperkeratotic plaques around the body orifices.

Graham-Little Piccardi Lassueur syndrome: case report.

A 33-year-old woman presented with a 3-year history of progressive alopecia of the scalp. Past treatment with hydroxicloroquine did not show improvement. Physical examination revealed multiple areas of alopecia with atrophic aspect of the scalp, and axillary and pubic hypotrichosis.

Case for diagnosis. Chilblains.

Chilblains are an inflammatory skin condition that develops following exposure to the cold. They consist of pruritic and/or painful erythematous-to-violaceous acral lesions and are the result of an abnormal vascular response to exposure to the cold. This benign condition is common in southern Brazil, particularly in Rio Grande do Sul where climatic conditions, together with cultural and economic aspects, facilitate the development of these sores.
