Bicontinuous microparticles have advanced transport, mechanical, and electrochemical properties and show promising applications in energy storage, catalysis, and other fields. However, it remains a great challenge to fabricate bicontinuous microparticles of block copolymers (BCPs) by controlling the microphase separation due to the extremely narrow region of a bicontinuous structure in the phase diagram. Here, we demonstrate a strategy to balance the phase separation of BCPs and fluorinated additives at different length scales in emulsion droplets, providing a large window to access bicontinuous microparticles.

Carotenoids from different sources have different structures and functions, and their dietary components benefit the health of various organisms. The effects of halophilic Archaea-derived C50 carotenoids on poultry egg quality and gut microbiota remain largely unexplored. In this study, we isolated a carotenoid-secreting strain of , TRM89021, from the Pamir Plateau.

Objectives: Cesarean scar disorder (CSD) is a recently defined condition resulting from cesarean delivery (CD) surgery, and transvaginal uterine diverticulum repair (TVUDR) is generally chosen for treatment of CSD. This study constructed a prediction model for CSD disappearance following TVUDR using imaging data for CSD measured by transvaginal ultrasound (TVU), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and contrast-enhanced MRI.

Methods: The data of 283 women with prior CD treated with TVUDR were retrospectively collected between January 2014 and February 2016.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study aimed to improve the diagnosis of congenital right aortic arch (RAA) and double aortic arch (DAA) in fetuses, as traditional echography methods are often insufficient, impacting clinical management and long-term outcomes.
  • - From over 414,000 pregnant women scanned between 2014 and 2022, 332 cases were identified with either RAA or DAA, with a focus on enhancing diagnostic accuracy through a combination of multiple echocardiographic views alongside advanced imaging techniques.
  • - The results highlighted that traditional views like the three-vessel and trachea (3VT) view were inadequate for certain cases of RAA, particularly mirror RAA, revealing an accuracy of 88.

  • The study examines the use of fetal heart quantification (HQ) technology to assess the size and function of the hearts of fetuses diagnosed with fetal growth restriction (FGR) compared to healthy controls.
  • Results show that fetuses with FGR had significantly smaller heart dimensions and varied function metrics, particularly in the left and right ventricles, indicating impaired cardiac development.
  • The analysis also highlights differences in heart function based on the timing of FGR onset, with early-onset cases showing more pronounced abnormalities than late-onset cases.

Objective: Postoperative delirium (POD) is a common complication following off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (OPCABG) and is associated with significant morbidity. This study aims to evaluate the correlation of systemic immune inflammatory index (SII) and systemic inflammatory response index (SIRI) with postoperative delirium (POD) in patients with cerebral infarction undergoing OPCABG.

Methods: The perioperative cohort study included 321 patients who underwent OPCABG.

  • The study focuses on addressing high-sulfate wastewater challenges during flue gas desulfurization and denitrification processes, specifically targeting nitrogen removal.
  • Halophilic activated sludge was used in a Sequencing Batch Reactor, achieving over 96.7% nitrogen removal from wastewater with a sulfate concentration of 60 g/L.
  • It identifies key nitrogen metabolic processes and dominant bacteria involved in efficient nitrogen removal, emphasizing the importance of ectoine content in enhancing salt tolerance of the activated sludge.

Object: The present study intended to evaluate the effect of simvastatin-loaded nanomicelles (SVNs) on promoting new bone formation and reducing alveolar ridge resorption at the tooth extraction sites at the early healing of the extraction sockets.

Methods: SVNs were synthesized using a dialysis method. The rabbit tooth extraction model was established, SVNs and simvastatin (SV) were loaded on gelatin sponge and inserted into the extraction socket.

  • Soil microorganisms are important for keeping the environment healthy, but climate change and human actions are causing problems.
  • The Tarim River in China is vital for helping different plants and animals thrive and stopping areas from turning into deserts.
  • This study looked at how the quality of different habitats affects the types of microorganisms found in the soil, finding that lower quality habitats have more resilient microorganisms and that certain chemicals in the soil affect microbial diversity.

Background: The cardiac surgery-associated acute kidney injury (CSA-AKI) occurs in up to 1 out of 3 patients. Off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (OPCABG) is one of the major cardiac surgeries leading to CSA-AKI. Early identification and timely intervention are of clinical significance for CSA-AKI.

Background: Postoperative atrial fibrillation (POAF) is the most common arrhythmia after cardiac surgery. While thyroid dysfunction can predict POAF, the association between preoperative serum free triiodothyronine (FT3) levels and POAF in patients undergoing off-pump coronary artery bypass (OPCAB) grafting remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between preoperative FT3 levels and POAF in OPCAB patients.

Protein content in food is an important indicator of nutritional value and food safety. Therefore, it is of great significance to accurately detect protein content in food. In this work, a combustion furnace and novel hollow-electrode glow discharge ion source-quadrupole mass spectrometry (HGD-MS) were designed, which were used to construct a "combustion furnace + mass spectrometry" experimental platform to detect the protein content in food.

Background: Compared with cardiopulmonary bypass surgery, off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (OPCABG) reduces trauma to the body. However, there is still a risk of neurological complications, including postoperative delirium (POD). To date, few studies have been conducted on the risk of POD in OPCABG patients, and no standardized prediction model has been established.

Efficient medical image segmentation aims to provide accurate pixel-wise predictions with a lightweight implementation framework. However, existing lightweight networks generally overlook the generalizability of the cross-domain medical segmentation tasks. In this paper, we propose Generalizable Knowledge Distillation (GKD), a novel framework for enhancing the performance of lightweight networks on cross-domain medical segmentation by generalizable knowledge distillation from powerful teacher networks.
