Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to compare the outcomes of laparoscopic versus robotic ventral mesh rectopexy in treating pelvic floor disorders, focusing on the early experiences of two surgeons from 2017 to 2022.
  • Results showed that robotic procedures had a lower conversion rate but required longer operative time compared to laparoscopic procedures, while postoperative outcomes like pain and complications were similar for both approaches.
  • Ultimately, robotic ventral mesh rectopexy resulted in a shorter hospital stay and better functional results, with higher patient satisfaction and lower recurrence rates, despite the initial learning curve challenges.
