An App-Based Workplace Mindfulness Intervention, and Its Effects Over Time.

We investigated the week-to-week effects of a mindfulness intervention on emotional exhaustion, work engagement, and job satisfaction in a field study involving 218 participants who participated and reported their weekly outcomes during the 8-week program. To examine how mindfulness impacted work outcomes, we used intraindividual modeling of the 8-week data. Mindfulness increased over time, and time also had indirect effects on emotional exhaustion, work engagement, and job satisfaction, through mindfulness.

[Feasibility study of therapeutic exposure in virtual reality for pathological gamblers].

Virtual reality immersion exposure for pathological gamblers is beneficial in the context of cognitive and behavioral interventions. It can be used to evoke the desire to play and to have access to automatic thoughts and mistaken beliefs of the players when they find themselves in a gambling context.

Analysis of Gambling in the Media Related to Screens: Immersion as a Predictor of Excessive Use?

This study investigates the intricacies between the player interface proposed by the screens, (in particular on smartphone applications or in video games) and gambling. Recent research indicates connections between "immersion" and excessive screen practice. We want to understand the causal-effects between online gambling and the "immersion" variable and understand their relationship and its contingencies.

Gambling and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorders (ADHD) in a Population of French Students.

Attention deficit disorder with or without hyperactivity (ADD/ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that can be exacerbated by psychosocial factors. Various studies confirm that the severity of a psychiatric disorder, particularly when it comes to ADHD, is strongly correlated with the amount of use. This study (1) evaluated the association between ADHD and gambling among young students; (2) determined which symptom among ADHD's three symptoms (attention deficit, hyperactivity, or impulsivity) had the strongest association with video game addiction and gambling; and (3) determined the impact of the association between ADHD and video game addiction and gambling on self-esteem and academic performance of students.

[A cyberbullying study: Analysis of cyberbullying, comorbidities and coping mechanisms].

Introduction: Cyberbullying is a relatively new form of bullying. This bullying is committed by means of an electronic act, the transmission of a communication by message, text, sound, or image by means of an electronic device, including but limited to, a computer phone, wireless telephone, or other wireless communication device, computer, games console or pager. Cyberbullying is characterized by deliberately threatening, harassing, intimidating, or ridiculing an individual or group of individuals; placing an individual in reasonable fear of harm; posting sensitive, private information about another person without his/her permission; breaking into another person's account and/or assuming another individual's identity in order to damage that person's reputation or friendships.

Tandem Payne/Meinwald versus Meinwald rearrangements on the α-hydroxy- or α-silyloxy-spiro epoxide skeleton.

Numerous routes of access to the medial basal structures of the cranium have been described, largely because of the wide variety of lesions observed in deep localizations. An examination of the principals involved, their development and the technical modalities demonstrate the advantages and disadvantages of each and their specific indications.

While reviewing a series of 138 cerebellar tumors operated upon between 1978 and 1991, the authors could only find 2 glioblastomas and 8 anaplastic astrocytomas, occurring in 4 children (3 to 14 years old) and 6 adults (23 to 48 years old). These 10 cases represent 2% of the all malignant gliomas population observed during the same period of time. Clinically speaking, nothing makes these tumors different from other cerebellar ones.

[Giant ependymoma of the cauda equina. Long-term development apropos of 7 cases].

Seven cases of giant ependymomas of cauda equina, extending from the conus medullaris to the sacrum, are reported. Mean age of the patients was 36 years. The initial symptoms were not specific, including low back pain and radiculalgias.

Hearing preservation in acoustic neurinoma surgery.

The authors have reviewed hearing results obtained in 99 patients operated on via the suboccipital approach for acoustic neurinoma, who were not deaf prior to surgery (pure tone average less than 70 dB). Tumor size was less than 10 mm in four cases, 10 to 19 mm in 26 cases, 20 to 29 mm in 39 cases, and 30 mm or greater in 30 cases. Removal was macroscopically complete in 92 cases and incomplete in seven, including four cases with bilateral acoustic neurofibromatosis.

[Unilateral hydrocephalus caused by abscess of the choroid plexus].

A case of unilateral hydrocephalus due to an abscess in the ipsilateral choroid plexuses, and revealed by intracranial hypertension is reported. Treatment with ceftriaxone, metronidazol and thiophenicol was clinically and radiographically successful, without surgery 3 weeks later. Management and mechanisms are discussed.

[Epidermal cyst and osteolysis of the cranial vault].

In a 40-year old man undergoing, under local anaesthesia, excision of an epidermal cyst located in the frontal region, at the border of the scalp, the operator had difficulties in removing the deep part of the cyst and perceived an underlying bone depression. The depression was caused by a 2 x 1.3 cm wide lacuna in the calvarium, which was subsequently treated by neurosurgeons.

[Meningioma of the apex of the tentorial incisura. Diagnostic and surgical aspects apropos of a series of 7 cases].

Seven cases of meningiomas implanted on the medial portion of the free edge of the tentorium are reported. The denomination "meningiomas of the apex of the tentorial incisura" is proposed. In 4 patients, the clinical presentation was that of an intracranial hypertension without signs of compression of the quadrigeminal plate involvement.

Left ventricular pressure measurement during noninvasive transcutaneous cardiac pacing.

In a pacemaker-dependent patient, the hemodynamic response during external transcutaneous and endocardial sequential pacing was evaluated by left ventricular pressure monitoring. A single ventricular pacing mode with hemodynamic effect of atrioventricular asynchrony was shown during external pacing.

Three recent cases of intra-ventricular meningiomas are reported. The incidence of this tumor type is very low, since they account for only 0.2% of all intra-cranial neoplasms and 2% of all intra-cranial meningiomas in the adult.

Epidermoid cyst of the fourth ventricle.

The case of a 52-year-old patient with a fourth ventricle epidermoid is reported. The initial presentation included long-standing headaches, progressive anomalies of gait and slight impairment of mentation. CT showed a hypodense mass enhancing peripherally after contrast infusion.
