[A rational approach to the choice of the method of surgery of inguinal hernia].

In operative treatment of inguinal hernias by conventional methods, the incidence of recurrences was 12.4%. The analysis of causes was carried out, and factors of risk for the development of hernia recurrence were distinguished.

[Treatment of postoperative ventral hernias].

The experience with 248 operations for postoperative hernias of the abdominal wall is analyzed. Defects in the aponeurosis in 182 patients with not great hernias were eliminated by plasty with adjacent tissues. In 66 patients with extensive, giant and recurrent hernias herniatomy with skin autografts was performed.
