Spectrum of congenital surgical malformations in newborns.

A prospective study to detect the frequency and distribution of congenital surgical malformations in a rural hospital setting in Maharashtra was carried out. A total of 3000 consecutive births over a 9-month period was included and the frequency of congenital malformations was 21.1 per 1000 births.
