An Unusual Presentation of Monofocal Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus Hepatic Abscess in an Otherwise Healthy Man.

A hepatic abscess is the collection of suppurative matter within the parenchyma of the liver. While most pyogenic liver abscesses (PLAs) are polymicrobial in nature, some rare cases are caused by methicillin-resistant (MRSA). We present a case of a 43 year-old male without evident exposures who presented with abdominal pain and via CT imaging was found to have monofocal MRSA hepatic abscess.

Background: The recent COVID vaccinations have successfully reduced death and severity but did not stop the transmission of viruses by the emerging SARS-CoV-2 strain. There is a need for better and long-lasting dynamic vaccines for numerous prevailing strains and the evolving SARS-CoV-2 virus, necessitating the development of broad-spectrum strains being used to stop infection by reducing the spread rate and re-infection. The spike (S) glycoprotein is one of the proteins expressed commonly in the early phases of SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Kikuchi Fujimoto disease: sinister presentation, good prognosis.

Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease (KFD) is a rare, benign, self-limiting necrotizing lymphadenitis of unknown etiology. The disease can affect people of all ages and of any sex and ethnicity. Tissue biopsy is needed for accurate diagnosis.

Designing and evaluating an automated intravenous dosage medication calculation tool for reducing the time of stat medication administration in a pediatric emergency department.

Background: Urgent medications are regularly prescribed using the term "stat", which indicates that the medication should be administered within 30 min after it is ordered. However, many hospitals struggle to reliably administer stat medications within 30 min after they are ordered. This study involved developing and evaluating an automated intravenous dosage medication calculation tool (AIVDMCT) for reducing the time between the order and administration of stat medications to children at a pediatric emergency department (PED) in Saudi Arabia.
