Here, we identify the very first synaptic targets that initiate critical period plasticity, heralded by altered cortical oscillations. Particleboards containing waste rubber (tires and mixtures of isolators and carpets) filler were evaluated from the point of view of its flammability. The assessment of the utilization of these composites in the construction industry was analyzed through the determination of their spontaneous ignition temperatures, mass burning rate and calorific value. Based on the results of spontaneous ignition temperatures, similar values between particleboards and particleboards containing 10%, 15% and 20% of waste tires were obtained.

The effects of using 100% larch bark ( Mill) as a raw material for composite boards on the thermophysical properties of this innovative material were investigated in this study. Panels made of larch bark with 4-11 mm and 10-30 mm particle size, with ground bark oriented parallel and perpendicular to the panel's plane at densities varying from 350 to 700 kg/m and bonded with urea-formaldehyde adhesive were analyzed for thermal conductivity, thermal resistivity and specific heat capacity. It was determined that there was a highly significant influence of bulk density on the thermal conductivity of all the panels.

Perceptual attunement to the native phonetic repertoire occurs over the first year of life: an infant's discrimination of non-native phonetic contrasts declines while their discrimination of native phonetic contrasts improves, with the timing of change consistent with sensitive periods. The statistics of speech sound distributions is one source of input used to collapse non-native phonetic category boundaries, while sharpening native ones. Distributional learning can be a domain-general mechanism, yet given the timing of perceptual attunement, we hypothesized that this learning mechanism may be maturationally delimited in the content domain of phonetic categories.

The potential of producing eco-friendly, formaldehyde-free, high-density fiberboard (HDF) panels from hardwood fibers bonded with urea-formaldehyde (UF) resin and a novel ammonium lignosulfonate (ALS) is investigated in this paper. This study presents chances and challenges associated with the application of organic micro-pollutants (OMPs) as indicators in karst system characterization. The methodology and options of possible indications were evaluated based on the interpretation of the spatial distribution of 54 compounds in groundwater in combination with a complex geological setting consisting of multiple aquifer horizons and tectonic faults. A high variety of OMPs are released mainly in an urban area leading to concentrations of several nanograms per liter up to micrograms per liter, which are detectable using a high-performance liquid chromatography with subsequent tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS) method.

Fifty-four different organic micro-pollutants (OMPs) including pharmaceuticals, pesticides, corrosion inhibitors and other typical wastewater compounds such as caffeine are repeatedly analyzed in approximately fifty groundwater observation points in a complex faulted and fractured carbonate aquifer system consisting of three spring catchment areas. With the applied HPLC-MS/MS method, achieving method quantification limits (MQL) of 1.2-28 ng L(-1), forty-four of the OMPs are detected in groundwater.
